Activities at Sutton Grange Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Here at Sutton Grange we work really hard at providing a range of activities to suit our residents needs. We understand that everyone is different and we enjoy supporting our residents in whatever activities they would like to take part in. With a dedicated Activities co-ordinator and a friendly team of volunteers we are always busy with activities. We have several clubs including; gardening, film, craft, music, puzzles, and singing. We enjoy live music and entertainment, both in and outside of the home, and have regular outings on the minibus to local places of interest. Residents take part in animal assisted therapy, afternoon tea, arts and crafts classes, and visits from local community groups and school children. We believe it is important to provide stimulating, meaningful and relevant activities for our residents in order to make friends, and build a warm community to live.

Alison Wareing
Hi, I'm Alison. I am the Activities Assistant here at Sutton Grange, I joined the team in 2016.
I grew up in the local area and started my career working with animals. After I had my daughter, and before I joined Barchester, I trained as a teacher and taught lipreading and communication. The skills I learnt have been invaluable in my role today.
Now, I fill my days spending time with our wonderful Residents, helping them to live their lives to the fullest. I try to make a difference in someone’s life each day.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Sutton Grange Care Home

Festive Baking
Head Chef, Dean is never too busy to spend time with our Residents and has been out and about in the the home getting Residents into the festive spirit by helping them to make Christmas cakes.
Everyone agreed that it was a real treat and that they enjoyed reliving memories of making Christmas goodies at home for their families.

Bonfire Party
We all had an amazing time at our Bonfire Party.
We started off the day by making some chocolate sparklers on our communities which were very tasty indeed and enjoyed a pamper afternoon to prepare for the evenings party.
In the evenings our residents partied the night away with some of their friends and family and our friends from the local community came and joined us for the celebrations.
We had entertainment from the fabulous Rachel Rose who as you can see from the photos had us dancing throughout the evening.
Everyone loved watching the low noise fireworks that we set off and there were lots of cheers as the bright colours cascaded from the fireworks.

Baking Session
Yesterday we had a practice run at baking some Halloween themed cakes for our Masquerade Ball.
Our residents had a wonderful time making and decorating the cakes, especially enjoying cutting them into the spooky shapes of ghosts and pumpkins.
We also chatted about baking and Halloween whilst watching this weeks Bake Off program, our residents said that they enjoyed duck apple and putting the apples on strings too.

Macmillan Coffee Morning
We had an amazing time at our McMillan Coffee Afternoon.
It was lovely to see Sutton Grange's bistro filled with chat and laughter as our residents and their families enjoyed, tea/coffee a slice of the various cakes available, which were made by our talented kitchen team and one of our activities coordinators Alison.
All our residents said they had a wonderful time and that we should hold afternoons like this more often.

Celebrating Cliff Richard’s Birthday
Recently all of us here at Sutton Grange had a fabulous time celebrating the great Sir Cliff Richard's birthday.
We learnt all about how Cliff has influenced music throughout his career and that only Cliff and Elvis Presley have reached the UK singles chart in 6 decades.
We also watched performances throughout the day from Cliff and the Shadows and as you can see we had a wonderful time.

Harvest Festival Baking
We recently have been preparing for harvest festival here at Sutton Grange.
Our residents have been making their own version of a salt dough Wheatsheaf to be displayed in our local church, Banks of St Stephens.
As you can see the church have put it pride of place at the front of the church for all to see.
