Activities at Stoneham Grove Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Iuliana Buican

Activities Coordinator

Hello, my name is Iuliana and I'm Activities Lead here at Stoneham Grove.

I worked as a History Teacher for 12 years before joining Barchester in 2017.

I am passionate about my job and I love working with people. I enjoy planning and providing meaningful activities that make a difference in the lives of our residents, counting their hobbies and wishes.

In my free time, I enjoy travelling, dancing, quizzing and playing board games with my  family and friends.

I am looking forward to using my skills and experience to enhance the lives of our wonderful residents.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Burns Night celebrations

2025 marks the 265th anniversary of the Scottish poet Robert Burns ..or Rabbie Burns and so we thought we'd celebrate the life and legacy of Scotland's National bard with a few Scottish traditionsThese included a getting to know Rabbie Burns with some interesting facts about him, followed by a knowledge quiz. This was followed by a traditional Scottish lunch of Haggis, neeps and tatties. This was followed by poetry club reciting his best loved poems whilst enjoying a warming dram of Scotch Whisky! Cheers

Embracing the Power of the Flower...

Our residents spent a wonderfully relaxing day this week celebrating International Flower Day, which is celebrated on the 19th January.

International Flower Day promotes the psychological boost that flowers can give to people. from growing and nurturing plants and flowers, to gifting flowers to show love and appreciation, and sometimes just the simple act of admiring their beauty, flowers have the power to make someone's day. Our ladies took part in a range of flower themed activities including flower arranging, reminiscing about their own gardens and their favourite flowers and finally a flower petal quiz which they all very much enjoyed.

Their collective floral knowledge gained from years of gardening experience was very impressive - Well done ladies!

A whole lot of Rock'n'Roll...

Our residents had a fantastic time celebrating what would have been Elvis Presley's 90th Birthday this week as we were joined by singer Doug who entertained us with Rock 'n' Roll greats from the 50's and 60's. After all that singing and dancing the residents were ready to relax with a cuppa and a slice of cake whilst watching a special screening of "Love me Tender" in our cinema
