🌞 A Wonderful Day Out at Dinton Pastures Country Park! 🌿🦆

Today, our residents and amazing volunteers enjoyed a lovely day trip to Dinton Pastures Country Park in Hurst. The weather couldn’t have been more perfect – warm sunshine without being too hot, making it ideal for a relaxing picnic in the beautiful surroundings.

Our residents loved taking in the stunning scenery, watching the peaceful lake, spotting the wonderful wildlife, and seeing children enjoying their summer holidays. Moments like these bring so much joy and remind us how important it is to get out, make memories, and enjoy everything life has to offer.

A huge thank you to all of our incredible volunteers who gave their time to make today so special. Your kindness, support, and dedication mean the world to our residents and our team.

We love creating opportunities for our residents to explore new places, stay connected with their commnity, and continue making wonderful memories together.

 

What better way to celebrate the Wimbledon Finals than with two timeless British favourites refreshing Pimm’s and delicious strawberries & cream! Our residents had a wonderful afternoon enjoying the Wimbledon atmosphere, sharing smiles, raising a glass, and indulging in this classic summer treat. As you can see, the smiles say it all!  

Residents enjoyed an up-lifting show full of glamorous costume and a musical journey performed by Sadie!! Our residents at Stoneham Grove love a good sing song, and a dance - reliving moments and experiences from previous years! This included songs from “A long way from Tipperary”. 

We celebrated Mother's Day in style by inviting families to attend a cream tea held in our bistro! We had a fabulous afternoon filled with cakes, tea and entertainment by Rosie ...., who had everyone up and grooving! 

A big thank you to all the staff who made the afternoon possible. It was so nice to see everyone so happy and dancing the afternoon away!   

Our Head Chef, Peter, was joined by Regional Head Chef Szymon today to prepare a small snippet of what’s to come with our winter menu. Our residents and relatives enjoyed a selection of fabulous food.

Our canapés include roast garlic & butternut soup, mini Yorkshire pudding with roast beef & horseradish cream, bacon-wrapped ballotine of chicken with sage & mushroom with rosti potato, slow cooked belly pork with whole grain mustard mash, homemade pork ‘faggot’ with crispy onions, curried paneer with spinach & lentils, jam roly-poly with custard, sticky toffee pudding with butterscotch, treacle tart with clotted cream, and mango mousse with a chocolate crumb.     

☀️ Summer Pub Trip! 🍻

What better way to enjoy a sunny afternoon than a trip to the pub with great company and a refreshing drink?

Some of our wonderful residents enjoyed a fantastic afternoon at The Fox and Hounds, soaking up the sunshine and relaxing in their beautiful garden. From a nice cold beer to other refreshing beverages, there were plenty of smiles all around!

A huge thank you to The Fox and Hounds for hosting us and helping make the day so special. Seeing the joy on our residents’ faces says it all – laughter, good conversation and sunshine really are the perfect combination.

Here at Stoneham Grove, we love creating meaningful experiences and making wonderful memories with our residents. Whether it’s enjoying local outings or trying something new, there’s always something exciting on the calendar!

What an incredible afternoon at Stoneham Grove! A huge thank you to the amazing Sadie, who took us on a musical trip around the world right from our bistro. From the very first song, the room was filled with smiles, laughter, singing, and plenty of dancing! As you can see, our residents, families, and guests were all up on their feet enjoying every moment. It was wonderful to see so many people coming together and making special memories.    

We are so lucky to have so many interesting places to visit within easy access of our home. Recently we visited the Milestones Museum of Living History and explored the museum’s streets, shops and buildings to discover how people used to live, admired the unique collection of vintage vehicles and had a go in the penny arcade! 

Our residents spent time learning interesting and fun facts about the museum's collections and enjoyed a reminiscing session, where they shared amazing stories about their childhood.

We'd like to thank all the Milestones Museum staff for their kindness, generosity and guidance. It was a very exciting and enjoyable day out for all!       

As part of our great activities planner the residents are always kept busy with fun things to do at Stoneham. Our ladies had fun in our weekly baking club today where they could get creative making cakes, but also enjoyed a nice slice with a nice cuppa afterwards. 

Yesterday, we had the absolute pleasure of welcoming the wonderful Year 7 students from Little Heath Junior School to Stoneham Grove Care Home for a very special afternoon of creativity and connection. Together, our residents and the students designed and decorated their own World Cup T-shirts, and what a fantastic afternoon it was! The room was filled with laughter, smiles, great conversations, and plenty of artistic talent. Seeing the younger and older generations spending quality time together was truly heartwarming, creating memories that will last a lifetime.A huge thank you to the amazing students for being so polite, kind, and well-behaved. It was an absolute joy to open our doors and share such a special experience with you all.    

Staff and residents had a fun filled and memorable day at the annual dementia awareness event hosted by Reading Football Club. The group were greeted warmly and enjoyed delicious complimentary refreshments, had a chat with charities and specialists in dementia and then enjoyed a walk around the stadium to see where the action happens! For many residents the visit helped them reconnect with the thrill of football bringing back fond memories whilst creating new ones with friends and carers. The trip highlighted Stoneham Grove’s commitment to meaningful activities that support wellbeing, social connection and a strong sense of community. 

Children from Purley Pre-School and the local community visited us for an Easter Egg Hunt, and we all had a wonderful time. Our residents were delighted to see the children running around and collecting the colourful eggs hidden in the garden.

Dorcas, a resident, said: “I loved taking part in the Easter egg hunt, it was such a lovely idea, and we were so happy to be able to give Easter surprises to all the children. I think the children all had a great time too."    

Thank you for your visit to Browells Wood Pet Therapy! We loved meeting your new additions to your gang! We met Russell and Maple the Guinea pigs, Bambi, Flower and Thumper the rabbits, Steve and Barbara the mice, Ezzy the chicken and Tora Bora the dog. Having an animal’s presence around you can instantly bring you joy, happiness and warmth! We are big animal lovers here at Stoneham Grove!
