Activities at Station Court Care Home

Activities make up the most important part of all our days, and at Station Court we ensure there are a variety of social events that reflect the individual interests and capabilities of people we support. All group and individual activities are designed to not only mentally and physically stimulate the people we care for, but to enhance their life skills and feelings of purpose and self worth. All of our team are committed to supporting a full activities programme within the home.

Carly Chesney

Activities Coordinator

Hi, my name is Carly and I am the homes Activities Coordinator.  I joined the home in 2011.  I am passionate about our enhancing our residents daily life and delivering a person centred life enrichment activity programme is very important to me to ensure that our residents continue to lead fulfilling lives doing things that they want to and enjoy. Our programme is varied from excursions out on the mini bus ensuring our residents are connected to their local community, hosting events here in the home, virtual events and themed days – no day is the same!

A royal party

We had a ‘royally’ great day celebrating the queens 96th birthday.  Our ladies made delicious mini Victoria sponge cakes for everyone to enjoy. We then joined ‘Her Majesty’ in the lounge for a virtual tour of Buckingham Palace, we tested our knowledge on Queen Elizabeth in a group quiz and discussed the royal family and interesting facts before we watched the spectacular gun salute at Hyde Park.

Hoppy Easter

Staff at Station Court had great fun playing the Easter bunny delivering chocolate eggs to everyone on Easter Sunday! Followed up with making Easter bonnets ,taking part in an Easter service and having a delicious Easter roast. A great day was had by all. A huge thankyou to staff and customers at our 3 local co-op stores in Ashington who have donated eggs and Easter treats for our residents, we are over joyed with your generosity

Easter Cake Making

Ladies on memory lane had a wonderful afternoon making and decorating a delicious Easter show stopper cake. Lemon sponge with vanilla flavoured buttercream, topped with chocolate bunnies, eggs, edible flowers and mini carrots. It looked too good to eat … but we enjoyed that more than making it!

Discovering the Astor's

Our residents came together to enjoy an exciting virtual talk courtesy of the team at National Trust Talks Service.  The illustrated talk took us closer to one of Cliveden’s most famous families, the Astors. Our residents were able to discover what motivated William Waldorf Astor, America’s richest man, to purchase Cliveden in 1893 and how the estate became the centre of high society in the 1920 s and 30 s thanks to his son Waldorf and daughter in law Nancy Astor.

Wallace Collection

We had a lovely time joining Holly and Marie-Therese from the Wallace Collection, for a virtual introduction to the Collection, followed by a sensory exploratory walk through one of the museum’s most famous landscape paintings.  The Collection ranges from Old Master paintings to 18th century French furniture, arms and armour.   We all had a wonderful time and cannot wait to put our creative skills to a test and paint some landscapes in the upcoming days.

Home support Ukraine donations

Station Court have been a local drop off point in Ashington for donations for Ukraine. Collecting items such as baby products, food and first aid equipment

A huge thank-you to everyone who took part in this, our residents have loved helping too, from organising and packing boxes to crocheting blankets.   We are so proud to be a part of the Ashington community
