Activities at Southerndown Care Home
Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.
Stacey Davies
I have worked at Southerndown since 2013. I enjoy providing various activities for our residents with the team, such as gardening groups, trips out in the mini bus around the Cotswolds, quiz days and entertainment performances. Amongst the many things we enjoy doing, part of my role within the home is to ensure all residents are provided the purpose in life to fulfil day to day stimulation, whether that be together, or creating individual activity to those that prefer.

Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Southerndown Care Home
Feeling Floral
We have recently had a visit from the local RAF, who helped us to make some plastic poppies for our outdoor display.
We all had such a fun arts and crafts day, and having the RAF here with us made it extra special.
I think we can all agree the finished 100 poppies look amazing, and what a fitting way to mark the centenary.
Trip to Old Shed
Residents recently visited 'Old Shed' in Charlbury for plenty of posh coffee, cakes and a wonderful nature trail.

Waistcoat Wednesday
Residents and staff here at Southerndown are cheering on the England team by taking part in #WaistcoatWednesday, in recognition of Gareth Southgate's fantastic fashion sense.
Fun in the Sun
Residents have been making the most of our lovely weather recently by spending time in our beautiful courtyard.
Zoolab
Southerndown had a very interesting visit from Zoolab, who brought all sorts of spiders, snakes and giant snails for us to have a look at. Everyone was very interested in these wonderful creatures.

Cocktails and Canapes
You’re cordially invited to our Cocktails & Canapes Party on Wednesday 22nd May from 2pm. Join us in our beautiful garden and enjoy the refreshments on offer all afternoon.
Community Dementia Cafe
Join us for the launch of our new Dementia Cafe on Tuesday 11th June and meet with friends over light refreshments, and enjoy the variety of activities and entertainment
Professional Breakfast
We are inviting all Emergency Services and Blue Light Holders to breakfast on Wednesday 12th June 2024 from 8:30am. Come and join us for complimentary food and hot drinks!
