Activities at Snowdrop Place Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Life at Snowdrop Place Care Home

Thank you for Enriching our Lives

Staff and residents at Barchester’s Snowdrop Place care home in Hedge End celebrated National Activity Providers & Professionals Week, which took place from January 22-26. Residents and staff wanted to thank the wonderful activities team at the home, whose hard work and dedication make a real difference to the lives of the residents living there.

National Activity Providers & Professionals Week is an annual event to support activity professionals and thank them for all the many different varied activities they provide to residents and patients. Each and every member of the team at Snowdrop Place offers unique, tailored activities and entertainment to the residents every single day. They always go above and beyond their role and for this everyone at the home is truly grateful.

As part of the celebrations, activities staff were treated to delicious cake and gifted with beautiful bouquets of flowers.

Monika Zytowiecka, General Manager, said: “It is so wonderful to be able to celebrate National Activities Providers & Professionals Week and thank our fantastic activities teams for all their hard work by organising something for them for a change!”

Iris, a resident at Snowdrop Place, commented: “We’ve all had such a lovely time today, it really is a joy to be able to thank our wonderful activities coordinators for all that they do. They really make such a difference each and every day.”

Casper Says Thank You

Today generous donations from the local community were delivered to the Blue Cross Animal Rescue Centre.

These donations make a significant impact on the well-being of our furry friends. Your support ensures these animals receive proper care, love & medical attention.

The Importance of Community Involvement

Community involvement is a crucial aspect of our society, and it's heart warming to hear about people reaching out and inviting others to join in their activities. Recently, Fiona from Snowdrop Place Care Home - Barchester Healthcare was kindly invited to the Eastleigh Men's Shed to meet the guys and the work they do.

The Eastleigh Men's Shed is a community project that provides a space for men to come together and work on various projects, from carpentry to metalworking. The project is designed to tackle social isolation and loneliness in men and promote mental and physical well-being.

Fiona's visit to the Eastleigh Men's Shed was an excellent opportunity to learn more about the project and their work. She got to meet the guys and see the different projects they were working on, from making birdhouses to repairing old bicycles. She was amazed by the skills and creativity of the men and their dedication to the project.

Community involvement is essential for the well-being of our society, especially for our retired citizens. It is a great way to tackle social isolation and loneliness amongst the elderly, who may feel disconnected from the community. It also allows different generations to come together, share experiences, and learn from one another.

Fiona's visit to the Eastleigh Men's Shed is an excellent example of how community involvement can positively impact society. It's heart warming to see people reaching out and inviting others to join in their activities, and we hope to see more of these initiatives in the future.

Remembrance Day

On the 11th hour of the 11th day we paid tribute to men, women & our four legged hero's from both world wars & later conflicts.

We enjoyed putting together a very special day for our lovely residents and the community by the placing of handmade poppies in our garden followed by a vintage vehicle display.

The community spirit and gathering to pay condolences followed by enjoying celebrating times gone by was awesome.

Thank you to everyone that attended for making every moment precious.

We really can make the wildest of dreams come true

We like to make our residents dreams a reality no matter how wild.

We arranged for a special delivery for one of our lucky residents. Forbidden Nights were contacted and delighted they could help with Joan's dream, arriving with flowers & tickets for their show they charmed her off her feet. Joan has been on cloud nine ever since.
