Activities at Seaview House Care Home

Our Activities Coordinators are constantly striving to mentally and physically stimulate those we support by organising group and individual activities for anyone and everyone to participate in. There are exercise classes and a walking group, regular outings in the minibus to nearby places of interest including local concerts, as well as weekly visits from a PAT dog, and regular visits from musicians and entertainers, as well as church services which are held twice a month. We also host a weekly social event in which we encourage residents from the whole home to socialise together.

Activities are one of the most important aspects of a care home, so it is essential that our team are dedicated to ensuring that residents are entertained, and that life at Seaview is fun and active.

Life at Seaview House Care Home

Inside Mayfair

Residents across our services had a fantastic time joining Mandy Morrow for a virtual walking tour to learn about the ‘Herstory’ of Mayfair. The Mayfair of Nightingales may be long gone but it still holds a 20th century charm. Birthplace to the late Queen Elizabeth II, home to one of WWII's most decorated female war heroes and a tale of a wealthy Aristocrat and one of France's favourite designers.

We were delighted to take a walk down memory lane and discover stories from one of London's most iconic areas.  The experience was truly enjoyed by all.

North Coast 500 Animal Farm time

A wonderful afternoon in Seaview with visitors even joining in with holding the animals, as snakes, guinea pigs, Giant Continental Rabbits, Tortoises, Rabbits and even a gecko! Some of the residents had never seen any of the animals that were brought in to Seaview before and were delighted with themselves for stroking them and even holding the snakes around their necks.

World Chocolate Day

It was celebrated as always in Seaview with lots and lots and lots of Chocolate!! The Chocolate trolley was filled with everyone’s favourite chocolate after Activities coordinator Mandy had found out who liked what so that when the trolley came round everyone’s favourite Chocolate was available. Then it was chocolate themed bingo followed by Tea & Chocolate cakes! The residents were delighted getting some of what they like with a Twix being the most popular.

Midlothian Ponies

After a break of 3 years due to covid the Therapy Ponies Scotland returned to Seaview to see us with Wilson & Flicker. It was great to see them back as it is pet therapy at its best. Elaine & Paul had travelled up from Midlothian with the ponies and everyone was delighted to see them back. They even visited residents in their rooms and the smile on everyone’s faces said it all. Some said it reminded them of trips on ponies when they were little.

Inside Wall's icecream

Residents across our homes had a fantastic time during a special live virtual event in celebration on National Ice Cream Day. Wall’s team took us on a great journey through history, sharing fascinating details about the brand since its launch in 1922. We learned about major innovations such as the introduction of Mr Whippy, Cornetto, Viennetta, Twister, and Carte d'Or.

Residents were treated to a singalong to Cornetto classic ads, an interactive quiz about fun Wall’s facts and best-of-all, an ice-cream tasting session. It was a delightful experience for everyone, especially our ice-cream lovers.

Dogs Trust

Residents across our homes had a fantastic time during a special live virtual event, led by Jennifer and Emily from Dogs Trust, the UK's largest dog welfare charity. Jennifer and Emily took us on a journey to discover the rich history of Dogs Trust and their facilities.

Using captivating video and photo footage, our residents were able to explore rehoming centres and learn more about the highest level of welfare offered there. It was a delightful experience for everyone, especially our dog lovers.
