Activities at Seaview House Care Home
Our Activities Coordinators are constantly striving to mentally and physically stimulate those we support by organising group and individual activities for anyone and everyone to participate in. There are exercise classes and a walking group, regular outings in the minibus to nearby places of interest including local concerts, as well as weekly visits from a PAT dog, and regular visits from musicians and entertainers, as well as church services which are held twice a month. We also host a weekly social event in which we encourage residents from the whole home to socialise together.
Activities are one of the most important aspects of a care home, so it is essential that our team are dedicated to ensuring that residents are entertained, and that life at Seaview is fun and active.
Mandy Wilson
Mandy has worked for Barchester since 1998. At first as a carer and then in 2004 as the activities coordinator for Seaview. She is passionate about helping people who live at Seaview get the very best out of their day and actively promotes the resident’s monthly committee.

Life at Seaview House Care Home
We recieved a fabulous gift!
The residents at Seaview House were delighted when a residents daughter donated a new Bingo machine to Seaview after hearing they were fundraising for a new one. Hannah Mclean handed the new machine over to some of the bingo regulars at Seaview who were delighted to accept it and then continued to try out the new machine saying that seeing the new machine reminded them of bingo games in the clubs years ago.
101st Birthday Celebrations
It’s not every day you are 101 years old! Seaview’s oldest resident Cathy C was surrounded by her family and friends as they celebrated with a Tea Party as this wonderful lady was congratulated and given birthday wishes from everyone. Everyone said they looked forward to her 102nd next year!
Pancake Making
It is important to try and encourage our residents to maintain their independence, so starting a pancake making group was welcomed by some of the ladies as they had always made pancakes at home. Being able to make them again delighted them all and everyone enjoyed eating them. The ladies have decided they will make pancakes every 2nd day.
A to Z Trip
10 years ago primary 7 pupils from Hillhead Primary School made a fabulous book called an A to Z of Wick. They kindly at the time donated copies to Seaview Residents. Over the past few weeks the residents have been out looking at the changes around Wick and using the A to Z as a guide. Everyone enjoyed the trips and then began to wonder where the pupils were now 10 years on. Now that’s another story..
Holidays
When living in a care home, keeping connected is important. So when Wullie asked for a holiday to Embo, who were we to deny his wish. Wullie had a fantastic time accompanied by carer Ian as he visited old friends and had a catch up, played bingo and had many walks on the beautiful beach. Home a very happy chap with a new Jigsaw and ready to save up for next year’s holiday.
Seacoast Tour
What a beautiful day to go for a tour around the Caithness Coastline with Caithness Seacoast Tours who made the whole experience a very stress free and enjoyable one. With the saying you are never too old! 3 of the residents on board today were over 90 years young! Well Done everyone.
