What our families say on carehome.co.uk

"I was concerned when I reached the point where my wife had to enter the care home. The management helped set my mind at ease with their very welcoming approach. The carers have been great. They are very dedicated and treat all residents with dignity and respect. My wife has settled well in the home, is always happy and is enjoying her stay. The staff are all very upbeat, cheery and welcoming. There are lots of activities arranged for the residents. I now have a different perspective on care homes having seen the way my wife has been treated. I would have no hesitation in recommending this care home to anyone."

"Very friendly and welcoming staff. Made to feel relaxed and at ease. Husband's room was well-equipped, clean and cosy. My husband was made to feel at home by the staff, and the manager came to see us not long after we arrived, which l felt was very kind and caring given her busy day; it made me feel important and not just a number."

"My husband has been a resident for over two and a half years, and in that time he has received exceptional care from a dedicated and professional care team. From the outset, the atmosphere in the home has been friendly, encouraging and entirely positive. All the staff contribute enormously to his wellbeing, and also make it a pleasure to visit, for myself. He has been treated with kindness and the utmost dignity and I have complete confidence in the care he receives, and in those providing it."

"Dads comment is ‘no problem’ and by that, he means nothing is an issue for staff. His independence had increased and for a blind ninety seven year old that is truly amazing. He has settled well and we are so relieved he is in a safe and supportive environment."

"My dad came into the care home in October 2022. He has settled in well. All the staff have made this easy for him as they are so professional and easy to work with. When I visit I am always made welcome by the manager and staff. They have lots of activities that my dad is encouraged to join in and I am very happy with the care he receives."

"The management and nursing teams provide a five star service for the care of the patients and I can only commend them highly for this. The food provided by the catering team is of a very high standard with my dad now gaining weight since his admission, he is brighter within himself and I see a big improvement in his wellbeing compared to when he was in hospital."

"What a lovely place for my father's respite. He was really worried about going for a few weeks respite but it was so good he was not keen to go home. He has dementia but commented continually how lovely the food was and also the staff who would always make time to chat with him. I would particularly like to thank the manager who I liaised with to help navigate through some issues we had, and who made time to sit and have coffee with my dad when he wanted a chat (she must be very busy). I felt so at home visiting and being able to wander around with Dad and go and make a cup of tea and sit with other residents or sit in his room. Lots of activities to keep him entertained also."

"My mother went into Seaview House Nursing Home in Nov 2022 where she has settled in extremely well. The staff are very friendly and exceptionally caring to the residents. There always seem to be plenty of activities taking place which my mother enjoys. The food is very good and I would say my mother is looking very healthy. I would give Seaview full marks and say they are doing an excellent job."

"Lovely staff who treat the residents with care and compassion and like one of their family. Also on hand for queries and keep us updated. Have made settling in very easy. Lots of activities for the residents to participate in and keep active."

"The staff are pleasant when they meet you and are very helpful if you have any concerns. My mum is a completely different person since she moved into Seaview last December; she is interacting with other people and joining in with the activities they have, which she did not do when she was at home; she gets her hair done, she gets on well with the staff, and she is enjoying the meals. She loves the entertainment, especially the dancing."

"Mum has only been in Seaview Nursing Home for about 3-weeks, but the family cannot get over the difference it has made to her. We knew it was no longer possible for her to be at home but still felt very unsure about how she would settle being in care. We couldn't have been more wrong with our thoughts. She looks as though she is loving life again. Interacting and being the social butterfly she had once been many years ago. That is all down to the manager and staff at Seaview. In 3-short weeks, she is a new person."

"I recently visited Scotland for a week and visited my dad every day. I was welcomed by all the staff, who used my first name, and everything was made easy for me to do a Covid test before visiting to comply with the necessary protocols. My dad has been moved to a larger room to enable the staff to use the necessary equipment for his care, and it is so light with two windows and really comfortable for him. He was always “clean and shiny”! And very well dressed. It was such a lovely atmosphere at Seaview - a home-from-home and a pleasure to visit and chat with staff and residents, as well as my dad! The activities taking place at Seaview are too numerous to mention, and they provide so much interaction for all their residents, which was obvious from the happy and relaxed atmosphere at the home. I can’t praise nor thank the staff enough! See you again soon!"

"It is difficult for a family when one of your loved ones had to go into long term care and takes time for everyone to adjust. I cannot thank all the lovely staff for all the love and care they continue to provide my dad. I know by the way my lovely dad smiles and reacts to them all and how safe and loved he feels. He will often say to me "mercy, they're good to me". I am especially thankful to each and every one of them for giving my dad the love and care he needs under such difficult circumstances lately. Forever thankful."

"I visited my dad in November 2021 amidst Covid restrictions, travelling from France! Dad is suffering from Lewy Bodies dementia and has been in Seaview for just over a year now. I am very lucky to be able to have regular FaceTime calls with dad and have got to know some of the lovely staff over the telephone, but it was so nice to meet many of them face-to-face. It was very hard for me to say goodbye to my dad and travel home but I can honestly say I feel he is in the best possible place for the care he needs and I am so glad I visited Seaview in person. All of the staff are so friendly and genuinely seem to enjoy their jobs. The atmosphere at Seaview seemed very homely, safe and happy. Dad has wheelchairs tailored to his needs, a comfy, clean ensuite bedroom and is always well dressed, shaven and very clean. He eats well and really enjoys all of his meals. All of the staff at Seaview in Wick are a credit to Barchester homes."

"The staff at Seaview are wonderful. They have so much time and care for my father, and I know I can call or email any time to speak to someone and they will assist. I cannot thank them all enough for how they are helping my dad. I hope that post-Covid they’ll be able to do more events with the residents, and if you don’t already follow their Facebook page as it’s a great way to see what they do."

"I cannot speak too highly of the care that the manageress and her staff have given to my cousin since he arrived at Seaview. If it was not for the excellent care given to him I am convinced he would not be alive today. The whole staff give a high standard of personal care that I have not witnessed in other similar established homes. A lot of this is a result of the training given with senior staff supporting the younger ones. I could go on at length."

"I was not able to walk when I came here but now I am very active after the care this past few months. They have kept me in touch with my family with FaceTime and garden visits. All the staff have kept us so entertained with their banter and making me happy during COVID. I just want to thank them all."

"I am very happy in here and the last few months have been hard not seeing my family but the staff have made me so happy and now I see my family in the garden. I feel lucky to be here."

"My mum has been a resident for three years and has faced many challenges both physically and mentally. She has faced these with strength and determination, but primarily with the care and kindness shown by the staff of all grades and disciplines. The ongoing COVID restrictions have proved challenging for all, staff, residents and family. I have felt reassured by regular updates form the manager, my observations of screening and the wearing of PPE. Most importantly and reassuringly is my mum continually stating that she feels "safe"."

"My father has been in Seaview for two years. The staff are very friendly and approachable, they enable residents to be as independent as possible. They support residents to maintain skills such as using the internet and computers to keep in touch with family and friends. Seaview has an excellent garden where residents can walk in which is essential to there emotional wellbeing and mobility. Prior to the COVID restrictions, the residents were supported to participate in local community events and had many visiting groups and speakers. My father thinks the food is excellent - especially the homemade cakes."

"I would like to thank the manager and all the team at Seaview Care home for all their hard work and dedication during the recent pandemic. It has been a very difficult time for all the staff, residents and family members during this incredibly stressful period. As a result of the systems and safety measures that have been put in place, the home has been kept completely virus-free. A huge thank you to everyone at Seaview for keeping my mum safe and sound."

"In this current pandemic, I thought its a good idea to offer my opinion of the treatment my mum receives at Seaview. She has been a resident for over 5-years now, and although weaker, she is as good as I could ever hope for! Now in her 90th year, I marvel at how well she does, and in my view, this is down to the care she receives from every member of staff, from the manager, through all of the roles provided. People tend to forget that there are a number of roles fulfilled by the laundry guys, the domestics, the cooks, the carers, the official role, the maintenance guys and the nurses, all of whom make up a wonderful caring team! I have no knowledge of other care homes, but I doubt the Seaview Team can be bettered, and the caring attitude shows through with every single person. My utmost thanks to you all, and the way you smile though what is a difficult, and dangerous time, and I'm sure that the residents appreciate you as well! Keep safe for them and me!"

"To all the staff at Seaview Care home. I would like to thank the manager and all her team of carers from the bottom of my heart, for all their dedication and hard work looking after my Mum and all the other residents during these extremely difficult times. Introducing video chat as a means of communicating with our loved ones has been a godsend as we can still see and talk to them without being there in person. All the staff are doing a truly remarkable job and are a credit to their profession. Thank you again Seaview care home."

"This care home is by far the best. I know it is a purpose-built home which must be better than a conversion. Can I just say that the staff, form the Manager to the Cleaners is superb. The manager has set a very impressive team who are doing a wonderful job. I must also say that the food is first class. From my observation, I cannot fault anything and my wife is very happy at Seaview."

"I cannot begin to thank the staff at Seaview House Nursing Home for a huge effort they have made to make Christmas day so special. All the staff worked extremely hard to ensure the residents and visitors enjoyed the day as much as possible. Even Santa put on a wonderous show and was fantastic. Thank you Seaview, you have made us very, very happy today and thank you for the loving care you have given to my Mum over the year."

"May I take this opportunity to thank you, and particularly your staff, for the wonderful job they do in looking after Mum, from your laundry girls, the domestics, the Carers and the Nursing guys (not forgetting the roles that the administrator and maintenance person play), every single one of them plays their part in the overall Care Plan. As you know, I am there pretty much every day and enjoy the experience with Mum, all of the other residents, and your guys, and never once had an issue with their interaction and the help they provide! Caring is what they do, and defines who they are, and you should be proud of them. The above is a copy of an e-mail I sent to the Manager at Seaview Care Home as a general thanks for the service and support they give to my Mum, who has been a resident since April 2015. I am very happy with their care protocol and I know that Mum can be quite difficult on occasion!"

"My mum is extremely well looked after and the staff are absolutely brilliant with her. I have complete peace of mind knowing that she is in safe hands. There is always a member of staff on hand to help her should she need the assistance of any kind. As a result, my mum is a lot happier and more settled in herself."

"Since my admission in November 2017, I have been cared for in a professional and caring way. All staff, including carers, management, housekeepers and kitchen have made me welcome and do their best to accommodate my needs. It is nice the home have a laugh with staff, getting to know them and we hear stories about our families and holidays."

"My husband has had several respite breaks at Seaview House and even though his condition led to some very challenging behaviour on his part, I couldn't praise the staff highly enough in the way they cared for him. It is very hard when you need to leave a loved one in someone else's care, but it was made easier seeing how quickly he settled and how relaxed and 'at home' he clearly was when I came to collect him. The only negative thing for him is the distance from home, so I reluctantly have asked for respite closer to home, though I would recommend the service shown by staff and management to anyone considering Seaview House and reassure them that their loved one would be in safe and caring hands."

"Quite simply it is an excellent home and one which I am very happy with. The staff are truly lovely and we feel completely at home here. Food is very good and the care is of a high standard throughout. Outstanding is the warmth, friendliness and help from the staff at all times. It is easy to recommend the care home."

"My mum moved into Seaview Nursing Home around two years ago and has been very happy here. Very recently she has had a spell in hospital and since returning to Seaview she's improved no end. Nursing care is excellent in Seaview, staff are quick to pick up and act on any concerns they have, care staff are welcoming and have good relationships with residents and visitors alike. Seaview provides a relaxed, safe and happy atmosphere for residents and I'm very fortunate to have been able to have my mother cared for here. The manager is very approachable, knowledgeable and supportive."

"My partner has recently moved to another care home having spent a year at Seaview House Nursing Home. My partner has dementia. I was happy with his care the staff were attentive and caring. I always felt that he was safe and cared for in every way. The management was supportive and always available if I needed advice and kindness. As the partner with no immediate family near I would have struggled to cope without the care myself from the staff. I was always informed about the health or problems relating to my partner. I never had any worries about his care. The recent move was to his being nearer as my visits involved tiring long journeys."

"At the most upsetting time, watching dad become settled has reassured me that his every need is met has made dealing with his condition so very much easier. The care he receives daily is exceptional and they can't do enough for him and me as a family member. He is treated with great dignity and I am so grateful. Thank you."

Dear Wendy and all staff,

May I say a very big thank you to you all for all that you have meant to me over the past six years. In caring for her the way that you did, in keeping me informed if changes in her condition occured, in allowing her to remain comfortable - often very happy despite her failing mental state - and well presented, afforded me a peace of mind that I could not have had otherwise.

It has always been a joy to be amongst you all. Often the circumstances are not of the best in a care home, where illness and death are natural progressions.  But these are an integral part of our human lot, and what is important is how they are accommodated. At Seaview, I have always been made to feel welcome, in surrounds that were happy, colourful, attractive and intriguing in many ways, and staff and residents alike, I have felt to be dear friends.

I must also say how touched I was by the beautiful card and bouquet of flowers you sent me. The bouquet was as nice as I have ever received and remains fresh and beautiful.

My hopes and prayers go to you all for the continuing success of the work at Seaview House.
