Activities at Scarborough Hall Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Life at Scarborough Hall Care Home

Local garden centre grants wish

During a residents meeting resident, Ray Smith said that he “really missed their regular trips to the local garden centre where they often frequented to enjoy looking at the plants and chatting over afternoon tea and cakes.

Due to the restrictions that Covid19 has brought, Residents are currently unable to visit the garden centre so activity member, Jess Larkin contacted their local garden centre and arranged to collect a selection of the resident’s favourite cakes to bring back to the home and share during an activity to the delight of all.

Pitru Paksha

Residents of Scarborough Hall care home enjoyed a history club to learn all about Pitru Paksha,  The residents started off by looking through photos and listening to facts provided by the homes activity team, before watching a documentary on YouTube to learn some more.

Over tea and cakes the residents swapped stories about their own experiences and reminisced about their own time spend in India,

We have been given are very own mascot as a thank you for all our hard work and dedication to the job. Meet - Covie Bear who has been kindly donated and hand made from a staff member's relative.  Covie Bear has his very own name badge and he will soon be put to work cheering everyone up!

International Dog Day

Residents at Scarborough Hall care home enjoyed 1-2-1 visits in their rooms from one of their favourite little furry friends on Wednesday to celebrate National Dog Day.

The residents had lots of fun sharing treats and playing ball with Bongo, Activity member Jess Larkin’s not so little Chihuahua dog.

Bongo thoroughly enjoyed visiting the home and spending time with the residents, some of the residents also enjoyed a cuddle from Bongo

Viva la France

The chef, Paul Forvague at Scarborough Hall organised a French themed dining experience for our residents last week, on the menu for the day was soup de Provence to start, followed by a choice of beef bourguignon or chicken tarragon and for dessert, blueberry croissant or chocolate gateau.

In the few days leading up to the event Residents enjoyed doing French themed artwork in their craft clubs to decorate the dining room and on the day activities team member created a beautiful ambiance in the diner by playing French themed music over lunch and treating the residents to share a lovely bottle of French red wine.

Yorkshire Day

Residents and colleagues of Scarborough Hall came together to celebrate this special day. Residents came out into the garden too, as music played out and a Yorkshire themed quiz was held. Residents loved singing along to the old Yorkshire tunes. After all this excitement, a delicious afternoon tea was served for everyone to enjoy.

In the build up to the homes celebrations, Residents spent the week making a giant Yorkshire rose from cardboard to display for all to see, it was glued in white pages and Yorkshire photos from magazines.  A large display was created with all different Yorkshire crafts which was displayed in the homes reception.
