Nursing Care at its best, situated between York and Scarborough in beautiful North Yorkshire, Rivermead offers a high level of 24-hour nursing care and provides specialist nursing care for those with illnesses such as Parkinson’s disease and multiple sclerosis. Our Memory Lane Community is a dedicated nursing dementia facility .

Rivermead is situated in Norton, a small town near Malton. The home is purpose-built on one level, is light and airy and is set back off the main road with a sunny paved seating area to the front of the home. With stunning views to the rear, our specialised Memory Lane Community boasts two lovely secure gardens. 

Throughout the home our team of highly qualified and attentive staff focus on the individual needs of our residents, with a tailored care plan developed for each person. This dedication can be seen across the whole team, from our kitchen staff with their cooking and hospitality, to the organisation of fantastic activities and events for our residents and relatives.

We have a very loyal staff team at Rivermead with many of our team having over 10 years service. We recently also had staff nominated as finalists in the Yorkshire and Humber Care Awards in the categories of Care Newcomer and Care Innovator.

Types of care

Rivermead provides general nursing care and specialist dementia care within our Memory Lane community. We understand that each resident has individual needs that we tailor our care to, so our services are designed to provide the very best care for each person. This is based on personal requirements and preferences, and ensuring those who live at Rivermead maintain as much independence as possible. In our latest CQC inspection we received a 'Good' outcome for 'Caring'.

Celine Poirot

General Manager

Hi, my name is Celine, and I am the General Manager here at Rivermead. Welcome to our website!

I am originally from France but have spent the last 10 years working in the UK. I was previously Deputy Manager at a psychiatric hospital in Paris, before making the move to Yorkshire. I originally started my career as a Care Assistant and worked my way up to Management.

I specialise in dementia care and have a real passion for caring for older people, ensuring that they receive a high quality of care. I am looking forward to working hard with my team and working with the residents and their families. 

My door is always open so please feel free to join me for a cup of tea or coffee and a chat.

Deputy Manager

Roza is a highly experienced mental health nurse who prides herself on driving high standards of person-centred care across the home.

Lorraine Kitching

Administrator

Lorraine and her team ensure all aspects of the administration of the home runs smoothly, from invoicing, ordering, recruitment, setting up contracts, to manning reception, never a dull day!

Angela Lawson

Activities Coordinator

Angela is responsible for providing and delivering a varied activities programme on our elderly frail unit.

Sarah Lightfoot

Head Chef

Sarah along with her team is responsible for the catering service throughout the home. Sarah plans menus with input from residents and relatives to ensure balanced, nutritious meals throughout the day. Menus change four times a year to reflect seasonal produce and ensure variety. Sarah has worked in the catering industry for around 22 years in hotels, pubs, restaurants and care homes.

Tina Ashley

Head Housekeeper

I am responsible for keeping the home's Housekeeping and Laundry up to the Barchester standard.  I take great pride in my work and strive to ensure that our residents have a lovely place to live in and our staff have a pleasant place to work in.

Sue Atkinson

Head of Westow Unit

Sue has been working as a nurse for 50 years. Sue specialises and enjoys helping residents in palliative care. She ensures that the unit runs smoothly with a good quality of care for her residents and staff.
