Activities at Rothsay Grange Care Home

The activities coordinators at Rothsay Grange work 7 days a week to ensure there is a variety of planned group and one to one activities to suit all individual needs. The activities consist of weekly running activities such as chair zumba, Music therapy, an Arts club and many more. We also run a weekly minibus trip to local places of interest giving everyone a chance to have a trip out of the home.

Rothsay Grange also knows how to have a good old tea party alongside some fantastic entertainers and productions that visit the home on a regular basis. Irene and Aimee feel its very important to have the residents that live here to have a fun and fulfilled life and encourage them to attend as many activities as they wish.

Irene & Leah

Activities Coordinators

Irene and Leah have been working together since 2019, and thoroughly enjoy planning and providing activities for our residents. They are a great team and always bring joy and fun to wherever they are in the home.

Leah has worked at Rothsay since she was 16, as an apprentice carer, and has worked her way into a position that she loves.

Irene has many years’ experience in working with vulnerable adults and children, and also started working here as a care assistant several years ago, before moving on to senior carer and then into the activities coordinator role.

Both love seeing the way that residents' lives are enriched with the activities they provide, and love interacting with all the residents in our care.

Life at Rothsay Grange Care Home

A Visit from Jan Doling

A Visit from Jan Doling

On Friday 9th December, Rothsay Grange welcomed Jan Doling, a keen crocheter to the home who has been making blankets since January 2016 for a charity called Sunshine International Blankets of Love. The charity operates by volunteers making blankets in their own time using their own wool for the elderly and people living in care homes. Jan, from Andover, has made 14 blankets to donate to the residents of Rothsay Grange.

Each blanket has taken Jan 40 hours to make; she started this project in January 2016 and finished on Sunday 4th December, totalling up 560 hours. Jan said that she really enjoys making the blankets and using different colours and blending all the wools together to create different styles and patterns. All the blankets are named and have a butterfly crocheted on them to symbolise the charity,  which was founded in Birmingham.

Christmas Party

Christmas Party

Our Christmas party was in full swing with afternoon tea and entertainment from the fabulous Cosmic Sparkle, followed by a buffet-style supper. All that attended were given party hats and crackers to get in the full festive mood.

The Mystery Tour

The Mystery Tour

We have lots of trips that take place weekly, but on this one, we decided to take some residents on a mystery tour, so we packed up our flask of tea and biscuits and set off. We ended up at a lovely viewing point, where we could all see for miles and witness the beautiful colours of the leaves changing.

Remembrance Weekend

Remembrance Weekend

At Rothsay Grange, we always like to spend time being creative with residents. As it was coming up to remembrance weekend, we decided to get residents involved in making their own poppy art, including button art and felt poppy making, which was great fun.

On Armistice day and Remembrance Sunday, residents, staff and family members gathered to remember all those that fought and died in battle. Whilst sitting and watching the remembrance service on televison, there was some chat of war time between residents who were remembering their own experiences. We also had a memorial board, where everyone that wanted to could write a tribute on a poppy and place it on the board.

Halloween Tea Party

Halloween Tea Party

Here at Rothsay grange we had a spookatular tea party for Halloween with staff and residents dressing up for the occasion. We had entertainment from Cosmic Sparkle, who got the residents in the mood with lots of dancing and singing. We had some faboulous creepy cakes and spooky tea for all residents to enjoy that were made by our on-site chef. The afternoon was well-received by all who attended.
