Activities at Rivermead Care Home

We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within the home and we work together to give residents the best possible experience. We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centered programme of events and activities. Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents and their families and friends. The home also has its very own minibus for our numerous outings for coffee and shopping, which residents love.

90th Birthday Celebrations

We celebrated Chaz's’ 90th Birthday with entertainment from Alf Berry, who performed a range of hits from across the decades. We celebrated in the Malton Unit, where Chaz’s wife, Marguerite, lives, and a number of guests came across from Westow Unit.

Chaz also invited members of his family and we enjoyed dancing and many renditions of 'Happy Birthday'. As always, the kitchen team made a delicious birthday cake and we had a variety of small cakes and drinks to enjoy.

It was a lovely afternoon, with the sun shining, and good fun was had by all!

Celebrations

Today we are celebrating the very hard work of one of our resident’s - Chaz Langton.

Everyday, he has taken photographs of our new extension being built from the very beginning to completion along with pictures of the Opening Day. He has completed a full book with descriptions of all the pictures.  Also included in the book is a story from the Gazette and Herald.

The Gazette and Herald came to take pictures of the opening (and more pictures can be down loaded from their website).

Alzheimer's Society

We held a coffee morning in reception for the Alzheimer's society, where residents enjoyed a quiz and a sing-a-long.  A good time was had by all and the staff all joined in by dressing up as Elves.

Malton School

Malton School

We invited students from Malton School to come along and share activities which they'd planned for the residents. It was so clear to see how much everyone enjoyed it! We've made plans for this to continue in the future.

Farming Museum

Farming Museum

A number of residents recently went out on a day trip in our minibus to the Farming Museum in York. A great time was had by all who attended and we are looking forward to going back next year!
