We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.
Shannon Cullen
Hi, my name is Shannon and I am Head of Lifestyle and Enrichment here at Queens Manor. I have come to Queens Manor with 6 years of experience in the planning, activities and events sector.
I ensure that myself and the team get to know each resident's preferences so that we can deliver a person-centred programme of events and activities within the home - Including activities that positively impact physical, emotional and mental wellbeing. I strongly believe that creating great moments and memories for our residents and embracing their individuality with tailor made activities is the way forward.
In an era of developing technologies, we are using new ways of reaching out to family and friends - though Zoom, Skype and Facebook Portal. We hope that our residents never feel alone or too far away from their loved ones this way. Each day I like to ensure that our residents enjoy themselves in a calm, stimulating and fun environment, whilst creating bonds with each other and staff.

Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

The Coronation Garden
We are delighted to announce that we have officially opened our Coronation Garden - named & official opened by our very own Doris.
Having watched the garden come together directly outside her bedroom, she advised us of her name suggestion - to which we loved!
The garden features a new garden bench with a plaque commemorating our soon to be crowned King Charles III and hand crafted, wood burned signage created by our friendly handyman Damyan, alongside our King Charles III rose that we have planted alongside the garden
Flower Power
Some of the ladies at Queens Manor enjoyed a flower arranging session courtesy of Flowers by Lilybet – located in Aberdeen- who kindly offered us some of the flowers from a recent wedding that took place at Borthwick Castle. The ladies had so much fun making some displays & Audrey even made a hair piece. The floral smells that filled the home were just wonderful and really added a feel of spring to Queens Manor
Happy International Nurses Day
Although we celebrate our staff every day, we thought that we should make a special mention to our General Manager today, who is also a qualified nurse - she is not only the glue that holds the home together, but she is amazing at her job! Thanks Donna for all you do and all you have contributed to healthcare over the years.
Fitcare Exercise Classes
We are continually looking for new, fun and stimulating ways to enhance what we offer at QM - as such, we are super excited to have commenced working with our new friend John from FitCare Scotland !
John will be in the home weekly offering fun, social and engaging exercise classes for all.
We all loved our first fitness training session and are looking forward to our weekly PT sessions!
There is already some talk amongst the residents surrounding some competitive summer games and competitions - watch this space to see what we have coming up! We feel a resident vs staff event brewing
Art Attack!
Meg and Rosemary recently enjoyed a trip to the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art – having a look around the glorious exhibition that reached all of the senses. Followed by some tea and cake in their café.
