Activities at Paternoster House Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Wellbeing Art and Unqiue Experiences

Today we took a trip to Waltham Abbey Fire Station to attend the Community Coffee Morning which featured a wonderful Art & Wellbeing session. It was a fabulous opportunity for our residents to make new friends, and get creative in the true sense of community spirit.

We'd like to send a massive thank you to the Essex County Fire and Rescue Service crew who gave our residents the unique opportunity to experience some of their amazing heatseeking equipment!

These community coffee mornings are always special, we also send thanks to the Epping Forest District Council Community and Wellbeing Champions for helping to bring us all together.

Keeping Fit through Song & Dance

It's always a morning of happy feet and joyous voices at Paternoster House when Heidi McCaffrey entertains!

Our residents, staff and visiting relatives had a wonderful time dancing and singing along to some of their favourite songs. Heidi is such an atttentive entertainer with time for everyone, her regular singing and movement sessions at Paternoster House are always well attended.

Keeping Body and Minds Active

Our weekly sensory sessions help keep our residents’ minds stimulated and bodies active. From simple balloon keepy-uppy to playing darts!  We may have found our very own oche champion in; Barbara the Bullseye Queen.

Using water alone, our Aqua paint sheets are always an enriching experience, the joy of seeing the pictures come to life with each brush stroke, to the sense of achievement and pride on finishing their particular masterpiece.

Live Entertainment from Crooner Colin

We've had a swinging time this weekend being entertained by the fabulous 'Colin' who performed a selection of all-time classics our residents, staff and visiting family members could all sing and dance to.

It was fun and smiles all around, Colin came as a solo singer and ended up leaving with a band!

Day Trip Special Gift Shopping

Our trip out this week was filled with happiness as we accompanied our wonderful residents to Lakeside Shopping Centre. What made this trip extra special was seeing how each person had their own meaningful purpose.

After the obligatory 'Full English and brew' to start the day, Peter and Alan were excited to refresh their wardrobes with some new clothes, but it was Violet who had the most heart-warming mission of all – choosing something special for her soon-to-arrive great-grandchild!

These outings remind us that every trip can hold such a different meaning for each person – from the simple pleasure of picking out a new outfit to the emotional journey of preparing to welcome a new family member. We're privileged to support our residents in these precious moments that make life rich and fulfilling.
