Activities at Oak Grange Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Life at Oak Grange Care Home

Residents receive gift from Cheshire Fire Authority

Residents at Oak Grange care home, in Chester recently enjoyed a hamper full of treats from the local community, who treated the residents to chocolates, biscuits, cakes. Residents at the home enjoyed the hamper full of treats from the Cheshire fire Authority and it meant such a lot as visitors are currently not able to visit the home at this time.

Mexican Christmas Punch

On this occasion, we brought the warmth of Mexico by making a Mexican punch from scratch with the help of our residents. Cynthia, one of the residents, said that it was something extraordinary and delicious; she feels privileged for being able to taste something different.

Local entertainers bring joy from outside

Residents are overjoyed at Oak Grange care home in Mollington, the new visiting suite implemented by Barchester Healthcare means that not only can residents continue to spend time with their loved ones over the winter months but also live entertainment was back on the agenda.

Obviously during lockdown it wasn’t possible for Oak Grange to have live performances but the new visitor suite means that small groups of residents can once again enjoy live entertainment.

Karen Fitzgerald, General Manager at the home, said: “The visiting suite has been a brilliant addition to Oak Grange. It is wonderful to be able to offer live entertainment to our residents once again, they have so missed being able to have performances in the home so this is a brilliant opportunity.”

'Tis the season to be jolly!

Barchester’s Oak Grange care home, in Mollington Grange, got in the Christmas spirit by throwing a themed party with games, music, and dance for residents.

Oak Grange Care Home Christmas party was in full swing with an special visit from Mr. and Mrs. Santa from the North Pole alongside their daughter the Elf, they gave away gifts for each one of the residents, they enjoyed festive foods, live music and games.  Residents enjoyed a feast of festive foods prepared by the home’s chef, Simon Burns.

A touch of glitter and sparkle everywhere!

At Oak Grange Care Home everyone has come together to decorate the home to the delight of the Residents.  The homes activities team would like to say a big thank you to every member of the team who have made a real difference this year.

All of the homes individual units have been decorated taking the person centred needs of the residents into consideration, with many of the residents joining in the fun in helping to decorate

Residents enjoy virtual trips to the ballet

Staff and residents at Barchester’s Oak Grange care home in Mollington were given an early Christmas present from English National Ballet who hosted not one but three unique interactive online sessions just for them.

Knowing that they wouldn’t be able to make any trips to the theatre this Christmas, English National Ballet's Engagement Team came up with the idea of hosting three separate sessions for care home residents inspired by Nutcracker.  In the first session, Dance Artist, Laura Harvey, led a dance workshop drawing on the magic of Christmas Eve and First Soloist, James Streeter, recounted his experience of dancing the Mouse King in the Battle scene. During an interactive Q&A session residents posed questions to James about his life as a ballet dancer.
