Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!
Roni Paynter
Hi, My name is Roni and I am the Lead Activities coordinator here at Oak Grange, the wellbeing and happiness of each resident are at the forefront of everything we do, and I am committed to upholding these values as your activities coordinator.
Having worked in various care settings and possessing a passion for enhancing the lives of older adults. I bring a wealth of experience and creativity to the role. My primary objective is to create a vibrant and engaging activities programme that caters to the unique interests, abilities and preferences of each resident.
Together, we will embark on a journey of discovery, enjoyment and companionship. From engaging social events and group outings to stimulating cognitive exercises and creative pursuits, our goal is to ensure that there is always something for everyone to look forward to. Furthermore, I am here not only as an Activities coordinator but also as a friend and confidant, I encourage open communication, suggestions, and feedback from each resident and their families.

Life at Oak Grange Care Home
National Cream Tea Day
On National Cream Tea Day we hosted an Alice in Wonderland themed afternoon tea party
Refusing to pick a side in the controversial debate of cream before jam for the Cornish tradition or jam before cream as part of the Devonshire tradition, we decided to enjoy our homemade scones both ways with some fes-tea-val of herbal and classic teas.
Resident Hazel, commented: “We’ve all had so much fun today and the cream tea was absolutely delicious! it really does feel like we’re getting back to normal.”
Our varied life enrichment programme keeps residents active, and provides a daily choice of engaging physical, mental and spiritual activities tailored to residents’ interests and abilities.
Father's Day Garden Party
We have enjoyed a garden party with a special picnic in celebration of Father’s Day
Now that outings and excursions are back on the agenda, and with the weather getting warmer, residents were able to enjoy meeting up with loved ones in the home’s garden with some live entertainment from Sandra Currie to add to the occasion
Music Therapy & Sensory Stimulation
Music is an evidence-based treatment that helps with a variety of disorders including cardiac conditions and depression
At Oak Grange we understand the importance of not only maintain active, but to enjoy a nice time singing, reminiscing and dancing. One of our regular activities is Music Therapy, residents enjoy from singing, dancing and playing instruments.
Happy Birthday Queen Elizabeth
We marked the Queen’s official 95th birthday on June 12th in style with a right Royal Tea Party.
Head chef Simon Burnes whipped up a tasty selection of freshly-baked biscuits, pastries and cakes for the occasion, all washed down with pots of tea. Residents took part in a variety of royal–themed events including watching the parade and the fly-past, watching virtual tours of royal palaces, writing letters to thank the Queen for her dedication and service, watching old clips of royal tours and occasions and also a garden party with refreshments and snacks to mark the occasion.
Terrance King, resident at Oak Grange Care Home said: “The Queen is an amazing lady who has been through so much lately so it was a wonderful way to remember her and pay our respects.”
Volunteers Week
Volunteers who give up their free time to provide extra support were given a special thank you during Volunteers Week 2021.
Volunteers Week, which takes place this year from June 1-7, allows us to celebrate and recognise the hard work and commitment of selfless volunteers who go above and beyond for our residents and patients. They provide added help by virtually visiting residents every day, cooking for special occasions, virtually singing and dancing, sending handmade cards, virtually reading to residents, supporting and engaging in life enrichment activities, as well as offering meaningful companionship for residents who truly appreciate it. Volunteers Week is the perfect opportunity to say thank you for their amazing contribution over the past year.
We showed appreciation for our amazing volunteers by awarding certificates, remarking on special achievements and organising a special thank you event Garden Party with a music performer that not only volunteers enjoyed, but residents too from a safe distance in the garden and crafts designed by residents for their volunteers.
Flossy's Visit
Residents and staff at Oak Grange care home in Mollington dressed to impress, donned their best hats, and had their bets at the ready for Royal Ascot, which ran from 16th – 20th June.
This year however, due to the current situation, there was a change to proceedings. For the first time in the event’s 250+ year history, in light of the current lockdown and in-line with government advice, Royal Ascot 2020 will take place behind closed doors.
But racing fans at Oak Grange weren’t phased by this, as they had the opportunity to enjoy the event from the comfort of their own armchair. Residents and staff got together to watch the races, and also celebrated in a very Royal Ascot fashion by having a garden party with food, music and the special visit of Flossy from @NikkisPony a lovely Pony who delight residents and family members.
