Activities at Mulberry Court Care Home

The team at Mulberry Court works hard to support and encourage residents to participate in both group and individual activities, based around their preferences and lifestyle choices. We take time to get to know each person, sitting with them and listening to them speak about their lives, interests, and aspirations. We have access to our own minibus so outings to nearby places of interest are available; for example local museums, art galleries, garden centres, and public houses. We also host themed evenings, such as 'Quiz and Meal-in-a-Basket', 'The Races (Greyhounds, Horses)', and 'Takeaway and Movie Night' that we also encourage relatives to come to. We believe lifestyle choices and activities are one of the most important aspects of a care home, and it is essential that we help residents to have fulfilling and enjoyable lives.

Valentine’s Day

There was Love all around in our home with roses, cup-cakes and chocolates! We decorated lovely wooden hanging hearts and made our own Valentines cards for family friends and our fabulous hard working staff. We think everyone felt the Love today!

Minibus trips

Our minibus trips are always such good fun and everyone gets a chance to come out. This month we have been to a few local garden centres where we browsed around some rose gardens and pottered amongst gnomes!  A lovely lunch in the café and everyone was ready for an afternoon nap after the lovely fresh air.

Diffuser making

Residents had a lovely afternoon making their own diffusers and scented bags. The aromas from essential oils poured out into our home with Jasmine, Lavender and Rhubarb to name just a few. Our residents hung a string of scented bags together which now hang in their wardrobes and each has a lovely diffuser on their window ledge.

Burns' Night Celebrations

Our Head Chef, Lee Starkey, changed the menu to incorporate the traditional Scottish meal of Haggis, neeps and tatties for Burns Night. As the Haggis was brought in we had the traditional Welcoming of the Haggis poem recited to the sound of bagpipes music and an afternoon of watching The Edinburgh tattoo.

,

Chinese New Year

Residents enjoyed an afternoon making Chinese lanterns to celebrate The Year of the Rabbit for Chinese New year.  We wrote messages of love, hope and peace on the lanterns and everyone had a lovely time decorating them.

Musical Moments

Another fabulous afternoon as we welcomed Maggie Baker back into our home to give us an hours seated exercise to music a very popular activity our residents are treated to every month.
