Activities at Mulberry Court Care Home

The team at Mulberry Court works hard to support and encourage residents to participate in both group and individual activities, based around their preferences and lifestyle choices. We take time to get to know each person, sitting with them and listening to them speak about their lives, interests, and aspirations. We have access to our own minibus so outings to nearby places of interest are available; for example local museums, art galleries, garden centres, and public houses. We also host themed evenings, such as 'Quiz and Meal-in-a-Basket', 'The Races (Greyhounds, Horses)', and 'Takeaway and Movie Night' that we also encourage relatives to come to. We believe lifestyle choices and activities are one of the most important aspects of a care home, and it is essential that we help residents to have fulfilling and enjoyable lives.

Life at Mulberry Court Care Home

,

Out in the Sunshine

Residents have been taking advantage of the first bit of Spring sunshine in our gardens. Although we have needed to get wrapped up that doesn’t deter our residents from sitting outside and taking in the fresh air in our beautiful gardens.

,

Wooden Crafting

Residents were given various wooden butterfly’s and flowers to paint or decorate in whatever style they chose and then glued onto heavy duty card which made perfect book marks.  For those who didn’t want a bookmark they just used them as hanging decorations in their rooms.

,

Hedgehog house making

Residents all helped to put together a hedgehog house from pre-cut wooden pieces. Once the structure was put together we all helped to paint it and then took a walk in our gardens and chose a secluded little spot where we tucked it away.  We all keep checking to see if we have a new little lodger.

Hedgehog Painting

Residents had an afternoon of painting hedgehogs as we were having a week of hedgehog themed activities, some chose to copy real hedgehogs while others did an animated version of the little creatures. Our residents all enjoyed getting creative!

Historic Royal Palaces

Across our services, our residents were treated to a special virtual sensory storytelling session.  Together with Art Historian Jon Sleigh and the Historic Royal Palaces community team, we explored several royal palaces through the theme of food, dining and celebration!

We enjoyed a fantastic taste-a-long experience from the comfort of our home, from Tudor treats to Stuart sweets. A lovely time was had by all.

The Arctic Airship Italia

Across our services we had a lovely time joining Mark Piesing for an exciting virtual event to discuss his book ‘N-4 Down: The Hunt for The Arctic Airship Italia’.

Our residents were thrilled to find out more about the book and the fascinating story of the world-famous exploring airship Italia, returning from the North Pole on May 24, 1928. The airship was struck by a terrible storm and crashed somewhere over the Arctic ice, triggering the largest polar rescue mission in history.

The virtual book club experience was truly enjoyed by all.
