Activities at Mulberry Court Care Home

The team at Mulberry Court works hard to support and encourage residents to participate in both group and individual activities, based around their preferences and lifestyle choices. We take time to get to know each person, sitting with them and listening to them speak about their lives, interests, and aspirations. We have access to our own minibus so outings to nearby places of interest are available; for example local museums, art galleries, garden centres, and public houses. We also host themed evenings, such as 'Quiz and Meal-in-a-Basket', 'The Races (Greyhounds, Horses)', and 'Takeaway and Movie Night' that we also encourage relatives to come to. We believe lifestyle choices and activities are one of the most important aspects of a care home, and it is essential that we help residents to have fulfilling and enjoyable lives.

Life at Mulberry Court Care Home

,

Christmas Cracker making

Residents enjoyed an afternoon of festive fun making Christmas Crackers which we put around our Christmas tree.  We filled the crackers with chocolates and will use them on Christmas day!

Santa's Grotto

Residents had a fun photo shoot around the Santa’s grotto we created and then with the pictures we took residents made their own personalised Christmas cards for their loved ones.

,

Baking

With the help of our Head Chef Lee Starkey residents made flapjack, parkin and buns ready for Bonfire night.

,

Autumn Candles

Residents made use of the fallen Autumn leaves when we made our own candle jars with an added touch of beautiful smelling pot pourri inside.  The LED battery operated candles that flicker made a lovely affect for our residents to take back to their rooms.

Virtual trip to the Donkey Sanctuary

Across our services, Residents enjoyed a fantastic virtual tour of the Donkey Sanctuary Manchester.  Residents were thrilled to meet the lovely herd of donkeys, including Henry and his best friend Tiny Tim and to learn more about their every day care.  They were introduced to the sanctuary’s work and the impact they make to the lives of donkeys in need worldwide.  The virtual experience was truly enjoyed by all.

Double century celebrations

Celebrations have been in full swing at Mulberry Court in York, as not one but two of its residents reached their centenary in style just a day apart.  Joan Dixon and Doreen Mason were joined by staff, relatives, friends and other residents as they received a telegram from the King in recognition of their landmark birthday. A champagne reception and live entertainment was held at the home and guests enjoyed special birthday cakes made by the home’s chef Lee Starkey.
