Meet the Mulberry Court Care Home team
Our wonderful team comprises nurses, carers, activities coordinators, chefs, housekeepers and more. These people are here to ensure that residents enjoy their time at the home and are supported to live life to the fullest. Meet some of our staff below:
Hi, my name is Steve Edgar and I am the General Manager here at Mulberry Court.
I qualified as a Registered Mental Nurse (RMN) in 1991 and I have spent most of my working life in the public sector. I worked for 20 years in a crisis intervention service, first as a counsellor and then as the manager.
In 2011 I accepted my first position in the independent sector, managing a small nursing home for adults with enduring mental health problems in Bradford, as well as providing arms-length management support to three related services in the Leeds and Bradford areas.
Since then I have gone on to manage an older person’s nursing and residential home in Bradford and, up until joining Barchester, I was the manager of a specialised dementia unit in Harrogate.
I have worked in the health sector since 1989, when I started my nurse training and qualified in 1992, with nearly 28 years’ experience behind me in the NHS. First I worked in an ICU, working my way up to a sister. I relocated to York in 2012 and then changed career direction into residential care.
I have worked for Mulberry Court since 2015, starting as a nurse, progressing to Unit Manager and then to Deputy Manager in 2017. I am kind and empathic and continue to focus on providing a person-centred approach to the care that we deliver here at the home.
Hello, my name is Ida and I am one of the Unit Managers here at Mulberry Court. I have worked here for many years and enjoy providing high quality nursing care for residents.
The unit I am responsible for is called ‘The Ridings’ and is on the ground floor of the building. I like to encourage team cooperation and good communication, and to create an atmosphere that feels welcoming for everybody.
I worked at Mulberry Court as a Bank Nurse for many years, whilst also having a career in the NHS. In 2017, I was invited to apply for the role of Unit Manager by the management team. I was successful in my application and took up the post in July of that year.
The unit I am responsible for is called ‘Regency Suite’ and is on the first floor of the building. I am very proud of the work I do at Mulberry Court, promoting good nursing care for residents and fostering a sense of team spirit and a welcoming atmosphere.
I originally joined the Mulberry Court team in November 2005 as a Senior Care Assistant having previously trained as a nurse in my country of origin.
In July 2014, having now converted and registered my nursing qualification with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), I began working as one of the nurses in the home.
Following a successful interview in September 2018 I was promoted to my current position as Unit Manager.
I aim to lead and support my team to deliver the highest standards of nursing care to our residents, promoting independence and enhancing quality of life.
I was appointed in March 2018, having previously worked as one of the domestic team members and, before that, as a Health Care Assistant. I am dedicated to coordinating social events, entertainment and excursions for those we support, with the broadest possible appeal.
Along with my colleagues, I have encouraged strong links with the community, and I like to encourage input from residents and their families, to help identify individual needs and preferences. I continue to be passionate about supporting residents to have the most fulfilling lives possible whilst living at Mulberry Court.
I joined the team at Mulberry Court in 2008 and have worked in administration for most of my working career. I am responsible for all the financial activities in the home along with all general administration. I take great pride in ensuring that, as far as possible, everything runs like clockwork. I am here to welcome you into the home and am always happy to offer assistance and support.
I joined the team at Mulberry Court after serving in Her Majesty's Forces for 25 years in the Catering Corps. Here at Mulberry, we provide a wonderful choice of delicious and wholesome dishes. The food and the dining experience at Mulberry is recognised as an integral part of the lived experience, and I am responsible for managing the catering team, ensuring they provide a quality catering service to all our residents, guests and visitors. The highlight of my time at Mulberry Court so far, was being awarded the 'Five Star Dining Experience' in recognition of my team's catering abilities.
I joined the team in 2008 and my role involves maintaining Mulberry Court and Barchester's high standards of daily upkeep. Myself and my assistant work hard to ensure that the home is a beautiful and safe place to live.
I have worked at Mulberry Court for 15 years, first as a Care Assistant, but mostly in Housekeeping. I enjoy my job very much, and especially meeting and speaking with the residents whilst doing my rounds. I pride myself on having high standards, and am dedicated to maintaining a clean, tidy, and homely environment with support from my Housekeeping colleagues. I am always willing to help out, working together to improve residents' lives.
