Activities at Meadowbeck Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Tina Holmes

Lead Activities Co-ordinator

Hi, I’m Tina, and I am the Activities Coordinator here at Meadowbeck.

I began working at the home as a Care Assistant in 1999. In 2014, I changed my role to Social Support Worker, which I enjoyed, as it involved supporting residents at Meadowbeck in their daily lifestyles.

I then became the Activities Coordinator in May 2017. I love working with our residents and getting to know them and their families. In addition to supporting them maintain an active lifestyle I always ensure to personally get to know each resident when they move in with us to support them in the continuation of any hobbies or interests the might have.

Life at Meadowbeck Care Home

Residents Make Pizzas

Residents enjoyed making their own Pizzas. Choosing their very own preferred tasty toppings by colour and taste, by sampling all the choices that were on offer. This was a great afternoon with smiles all around.

Santa Visits Meadowbeck

Residents and visitors enjoyed a special visit from Santa. Bringing along a sack full of presents with him. One of our ladies had to make sure his beard was real.

Christmas Party

Residents, friends and families joined us in celebrations at our Christmas Party. Enjoying Live entertainment from the talented Christie Clifford getting everyone in the Christmas Spirit, lots of singing, clapping, toe tapping and laughter filled the room.

Our Chef did us proud once again with a wonderful buffet and festive drinks. Meadowbeck has had such a fun packed month for the run up to Christmas with School visits, Ladies Choirs and Christmas Carol service with our local village Church not forgetting our Pantomime A Christmas Carol.

Rainbows and Brownies

Residents had a lovely evening with the children making Christmas cards together with lots of interaction. Also brought back fond memories for one of our ladies from her many years as a primary school teacher, who always looks forward to children from surrounding local schools coming to visit.

Finished off a busy crafts session with the children telling us jokes and singing.

Fun Games

Residents enjoy these fun afternoons competing with each other and who can get the highest score and see who gets to take away the Meadowbeck Trophy. It was a fun afternoon with lots of laughter.

Residents Host Community Afternoon Tea

Residents and colleagues at Meadowbeck recently enjoyed an afternoon of friendship as they welcome members of the community to join them for afternoon tea.  Everyone tucked into delicious home-made biscuits, cakes, posh sandwiches and scrumptious fruit scones complete with jam and cream to celebrate the occasion. Everything was served on a lovely china tea service which the residents loved!

Members of the local St Thomas’s church attended the event with popular organist, Les performing. Residents really enjoyed themselves and loved chatting and having afternoon tea with their friends and family members.
