Activities at Lynde House Care Home

Our Activities Coordinators get a real buzz off their work here as enthusiasm is essential for the role. We decorate and celebrate for all the big annual events, Valentine's Day, Easter, Mothering Sunday and much more. There are also regular fixtures in our activities programme, including bingo, a sherry morning and quizzes, that are always well-attended. There's also an International Day that we hold to celebrate the wonderful ethnic diversity of our staff, where members of our team and their families give up their time to showcase their national costumes, dances and songs. Of course, we also have activities and services tailored to those residents who prefer the quiet life, such manicures or simply a friendly chat and a cup of tea. We always do our best to learn about residents' hobbies and interests and try to arrange our activities programme around their individual likes and dislikes.

Diwali Festival

Residents and staff at Lynde House joined together on Saturday to celebrate Diwali, it was a beautiful day with light, colour and delicious food. Many of our team wore their traditional dress and danced with residents, great way to stretch and learn new moves! Tony was first to take to the floor, no one missed out as residents less sprightly enjoyed watching as the team danced in the corridors! See our video on our Facebook page - @barchesterlyndehouse to see the dancer’s in action. At Barchester we embrace all cultures and beliefs to support our residents and staff.

Relatives visit on Remembrance Day

Residents welcomed their visitors to our safe and secure visiting suite with Remembrance Day very much in mind, laid in the garden was a display of handmade poppies prepared by residents during the week and gift bags with iced cupcakes for visitors to take home. We thanks all our guests for continuing to follow our robust infection control measures.

Poppy Art at Lynde House

Residents have been busy with their art classes in the run up to Armistice Day, whilst painting and drawing plenty of memories have been chatted about from air raid shelters in family gardens to leaving friends as evacuation took place for children living in the city. We have a varied daily programme of life enrichment with something for everyone - don't be alone this winter, stay active at Lynde House, respite care available now

Residents very own firework display!

Residents enjoyed their annual firework display last night from the safety and warmth of the lounge and their rooms, with a glass of bubbly or hot chocolate with marshmallows in hand everyone had a great time. Our tin man in the flowerbed was quite close so he felt part the display as it sparkled above his head!

Winner of our Pumpkin weight competition!

Our Halloween pumpkin was seen all around Lynde House in November and we invited entries to guess its weight to win a shopping voucher. Tony, our resident ambassador was brave enough to draw out the winners name from under the spiders web! Our competition on Facebook had lots of entries and several with the correct 6.0kg so Tony stepped in to make the draw. And the winner was Simon Do, Maintenance Manager! Congratulations Simon, enjoy spending your voucher
