Activities at Longueville Court Care Home

Our activities coordinators are committed to organising a variety of activities that reflect the interests and capabilities for everybody we support ensuring a person centred approach.

The team have a flexible approach to our programme and we are constantly reviewing and updating our programmes to ensure we cater for everyone's needs and varied abilities.

The activities programme includes regular trips utilising the homes minibus, these include a number of destinations of local interest. We are particularly proud of the relationship we have built with Peterborough Sailability. This registered charity offers the opportunities to those with restricted mobility to enjoy the thrill of sailing on the open water and the sense of independence that brings in specially adapted boats.

Involvement in the local community is something that the whole team are very passionate about and we provide regular visits to a number of different facilities including local schools and churches. These activities also extend too visits from "Pat dogs" and local entertainers to aid in our ongoing quest to give each individual as much support and stimulation as they require.

Carrot the Pony visits Residents in their rooms

Meet Carrot our lovely 8 year old pony that visited us this afternoon. Thank you Imo & Alison for bringing her in all the way from Ely. What a lovely treat for our residents.  Carrot even went into some of residents rooms for some fresh fruit + veg and of course lots of cuddles.  We just love seeing beaming faces when we bring the animals in. A sunny afternoon in the garden with chilled cold drinks and parsnips for Carrot.

Longueville Court wins Tesco Makeover Competition

We received an email to say that the finance team at Welwyn Garden City would provide some volunteers to do a makeover at our home. They wanted to do something for the local community.  The email said if this is something we would like to be involved in. Could we give our reasons as to why we should be put forward and they would throw it in the pot to see if it was a goer. We then sent them an email with all the pros as to why we should win the bid. Well we won! So Tesco brought in 15 volunteers to do a makeover in our dementia community. The volunteers came within a 2 hour radius of Peterborough and they stayed for 6 hours.

We spoke to Morrison’s and told them what was happening, & they decided to provide us with all the bulbs for the garden. Plus our local nursery Briery & kids have donated literally a truck full of flowers for the planting areas. Our garden looks awesome as you can see.

Bowling

A fun afternoon at Hollywood bowling alley. We had a packed mini bus & some real good belly laughs and a few broken finger nails. I’m sure this activity will be booked again. A game of bowling brings out the competitive side of everyone.

Alpaca Visit

So with your kind donations from our Easter raffle and our Jubilee weekend. I managed to get these two in. We had our 2 Alpacas come in to visit our home this afternoon. Both boys Teal & Bellamy are brothers, and are 5 yrs old. They absolutely loved being with our residents. They were so well behaved. Their owners Jess and Martin gave us a presentation on everything we need to know about Alpacas. It was extremely interesting, I must say. A super afternoon with our residents feeding and stroking these handsome two. Thank you everyone who donated to our Activity fund, so that we could get Zoo Lab and these alpacas in.

Jubilee Celebrations

We had our amazing Jubilee buffet for all our residents and their families in our home. Our Activity team did a lovely spread from smoked salmon, caviar, pate canapés, fresh cream scones plus Pimms and Champers for everyone. A huge thanks to everyone that contributed with donations and for those that personally saw me to give me their personal donations. All funds received will go to our much needed activity fund. Which means more entertainers and trips for our residents. Thank you everyone for showing up and hope you had lovely time and enjoyed the rest of the bank holiday
