Activities at Llys-Y-Tywysog Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Paula Courtney
Hello I am Paula the Activities Coordinator, I have recently returned to Llys-Y-Tywysog. I worked at the home for over 5 years when my children were younger. My close connection with Llys remained as my father in law was former resident, so I was still visiting regularly. I am delighted to be back working with the team.
I am creative and hope to bring new ideas for activities and events as well as still running firm favourites! My passion is about enhancing the lives of the residents from individual time through to big celebratory events. Sarah will continue to work as part of the activities team, working alongside me part time whilst studying for her degree at Swansea University. As a team we are committed to Barchester's Life Enrichment programme ensuring we work with mind, body and soul.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Shopping trip
A lovely little shopping trip out yesterday 5th August. It is so important to our residents to be out and about in their community and promoting their independence. The residents enjoyed picking items that they needed and will use in day to day life.

Local School Concert!
We were lucky enough to have an invite to Penyrheol Primary School for The Greatest Show!
We were absolutely thrilled to go and see the children perform.
What an amazing show and how talented the children all are. The costumes were fabulous too! The residents loved every second and wanted to see it again!
Thank you so much for letting us experience this with you all at Penyrheol Primary.

Mexican Day!
Mexican themed day for our residents.
Everyone enjoyed a fine dining experience with a variety of Mexican food all day!
We had music playing and lots of singing and laughter for all to enjoy!
Thank you to the hospitality team it was delicious!

One Heart Drummers!
One heart drummers visited us and what an amazing time we all had here at Llys y Tywysog.
A room full of fun and music which we made together! It was lovely to see families joining in with their loved ones too.
The Residents enjoyed the fact that they could make up their own beat for others to copy too.

Jenny’s Wish! July 24th 2024!
When Jen wished on the wishing washing line, us here at Llys y Tywysog made it come true!
The weather certainly didn’t dampen our day with a trip to Folly Farm Adventure Park & Zoo!
To start the day we rode on the land train around some of the enclosures!
Our ladies enjoyed seeing all of the wonderful animals in their own habitats.
Jens wish was to see the giraffes as they are her favourite animal at a zoo. She was so excited when we got to see them up close eating there lunch!
We had a fabulous day walking around the park! We even got to pet some baby goats and rabbits!
The penguins made us all laugh with a little display of their own following leafs across the windows!
We finished our day off in the penny arcade whilst eating some lovely fresh doughnuts.

Anthony & Clare’s Wedding
Wow what a whirlwind of a day. When carers Anthony and Clare asked us if they could come in to see our residents 12 days after they had got married, the answer for Clare to Anthony was YES!
But in true Llys style we couldn’t do it quietly, little did they both know what this special day had in store for them.
First surprise, they were picked up in style and whisked away for a drive before arriving at Llys, where they were greeted with champagne and canapés and all the residents suited and booted. We were ready to party with the first dance sung by the beautiful Talisa.
Then sweet songs off Ellie Rose for the afternoon! What a fabulous day to remember, celebrating the new Mr and Mrs Davies.
