Activities at Lindum House Care Home
Our fantastic Activities Coordinators make sure that there is a full programme of social events to suit all interests and capabilities. They aim to not only to stimulate, but to ensure that everyone involved has lots of fun. We enjoy trips out visiting local places of interest or just to explore, which inevitably ends up with us having a lovely lunch somewhere.
There are regular concerts that we hold in the home that allows us to have a good old singalong, and our community links include the local churches, knit and natter groups and toddler groups coming in to see residents.
On a daily basis, everyone enjoys a variety of activities, including quizzes, bingo, arts and crafts, reminiscing and movement to music. We also host movie afternoons on the big screen which, of course, involves popcorn and ice cream at the interval!
Any residents who are unable to join us in the communal areas for activities have one-to-one time in their rooms, with us either reading to them, chatting or anything else they wish to do that’s within their capabilities.

Hi there, I'm Kelly. My role at Lindum House ensures all of our residents always have lots of fun activities to look forward too.
I grew up down south, my parents worked in news trade & I've lived in many places! I've lived in hull for 20 years now, worked in health and social care for around 15 years, I started on care, worked through domestic, kitchen assistant and found my calling with activities!
I'm a super social person, enjoy being busy and sing in my spare time. I am part of a small singing charity group 'guise & gals'. I've been singing karaoke since I was 18 but never had the confidence to take it any further. I do, however, love putting on a show for our residents!
I'm a strong believer in 'treat people how you wish to be treated' everyone is different and it's important to focus on each individuals wants and needs, to encourage and nurture life, you only live once!
I'm full of energy, providing there is music... it's good for my soul!
Our residents smiles are my reward, it makes me so happy to see them enjoying them selves.

Life at Lindum House Care Home
Residents enjoy cookery demo
To celebrate National Vegetarian Week, staff and residents at Barchester’s Lindum House care home in Beverley were treated to an interactive virtual cookery demo courtesy of chef, Alex Connell, from Vegetarian for Life.
Chef Alex whipped up some tasty, healthy vegetarian snacks in a live, interactive cookery demo. Much to residents’ delight, Lindum House’s head chef Mo, had prepared the same recipes so that residents could try all the dishes. Residents sampled delicious, light and summery veggie dishes including Borlotti bean and dill pate, Greek fritters with Tzatziki and Coronation 'chicken' pastries. All finished off with a sweet and simple but totally yummy banana bread.
Home remember VE Day
Lindum House in Beverley marked the anniversary of VE Day in style by throwing a 1940s afternoon tea party to remember. The home was decorated in red, white and blue and residents and staff dressed up in their 1940s-inspired glad rags and enjoyed an afternoon of big band music and dancing.
Head chef Mo whipped up a delicious selection of freshly-baked biscuits, cakes and toasted Teacakes for the occasion, all washed down with pots of tea and a celebratory glass of fizz to mark the occasion.
Five Sisters Zoo
As part of Barchester’s Life Enrichment Programme, team members and residents at Lindum House enjoyed an exciting virtual talk, generously hosted by Five Sisters Zoo.
The residents had the opportunity to explore and learn more about the animal life at the zoo and the important conservation, rescue and education work carried out at the grounds of the zoo.
Five Sisters Zoo was officially established in 2005 with just a small collection of rabbits, guinea pigs, goats, and pigs. Since then the zoo has grown into an exciting collection of over 160 different animal species from all around the world.
Hip, hip hooray for St George's Day
It was all dragons and roses at Lindum House care home, in Beverley, as residents and staff celebrated St George’s Day.
In honour of the patron saint of England, the Residents and staff at the home marked the day with a visit from St George and his dragon, with a dragon pinnate and live music.
We are proud to invite George England back to our home, albeit in the gardens. To offer our residents exciting entertainment, after a year of uncertainty. We welcome him back, with socially distanced open arms. Residents joined in with the singing, and clapped along as George performed their finale song ‘tie a yellow ribbon’. The hospitality team at the home also provided a spread of sweet and savoury treats for our residents to enjoy during the show.
Residents enjoy virtual talk with Tigers Trust
Staff and residents at Barchester’s Lindum House care home in Beverley were treated to a virtual talk by the Tigers Trust. The talk was set up by The Tigers Trust, so local schoolchildren could interact with the homes residents, and engage in meaningful conversations and share memories together as part of an intergenerational initiative. Tigers Trust is an independent charity linked with Hull City Football Club and supported by the Premier League and the English Football League Trust.
Kelly Scott, activities coordinator said: “We have been using technology to keep our residents and patients connected with their loved ones as well as offer virtual events, entertainment and activities throughout the pandemic. We are excited to work with our wonderful partners like Tigers Trust, V&A Dundee, Blenheim Palace and much more to bring a wide range of fantastic experiences into our homes for all to enjoy.
Creating V&A Dundee virtual talk
Staff and residents at Barchester’s Lindum House care home in Beverley were treated to a photographic tour and talk about the creation of V&A Dundee by Peter Nurick, the Museum’s Communities Producer. The talk forms part of a series of six talks and virtual tours that V&A Dundee is hosting for Barchester Healthcare’s care homes and private hospitals across the UK.
V&A Dundee is Scotland’s design museum, it showcases Scotland’s outstanding design achievements and features world-class exhibitions alongside the permanent Scottish Design Galleries, and a changing programme of commissions, events and activities.
