Activities at Lindum House Care Home
Our fantastic Activities Coordinators make sure that there is a full programme of social events to suit all interests and capabilities. They aim to not only to stimulate, but to ensure that everyone involved has lots of fun. We enjoy trips out visiting local places of interest or just to explore, which inevitably ends up with us having a lovely lunch somewhere.
There are regular concerts that we hold in the home that allows us to have a good old singalong, and our community links include the local churches, knit and natter groups and toddler groups coming in to see residents.
On a daily basis, everyone enjoys a variety of activities, including quizzes, bingo, arts and crafts, reminiscing and movement to music. We also host movie afternoons on the big screen which, of course, involves popcorn and ice cream at the interval!
Any residents who are unable to join us in the communal areas for activities have one-to-one time in their rooms, with us either reading to them, chatting or anything else they wish to do that’s within their capabilities.
Kelly Rolph
Hi there, I'm Kelly. My role at Lindum House ensures all of our residents always have lots of fun activities to look forward too.
I grew up down south, my parents worked in news trade & I've lived in many places! I've lived in hull for 20 years now, worked in health and social care for around 15 years, I started on care, worked through domestic, kitchen assistant and found my calling with activities!
I'm a super social person, enjoy being busy and sing in my spare time. I am part of a small singing charity group 'guise & gals'. I've been singing karaoke since I was 18 but never had the confidence to take it any further. I do, however, love putting on a show for our residents!
I'm a strong believer in 'treat people how you wish to be treated' everyone is different and it's important to focus on each individuals wants and needs, to encourage and nurture life, you only live once!
I'm full of energy, providing there is music... it's good for my soul!
Our residents smiles are my reward, it makes me so happy to see them enjoying them selves.

Life at Lindum House Care Home
Activities coordinator scoops coveted title
Kelly Scott at Lindum House in Beverley has been crowned Activities Co-Ordinator for North Division in the Barchester Care Awards 2021 and is through to the national round of judging.
The Barchester Care Awards celebrate the staff who go the extra mile for the benefit of the 12,000 residents living in Barchester’s 248 care homes and private hospitals across the country. Categories range from ‘Registered Nurse of the Year’ and ‘Carer of the Year’ to ‘Dementia Care Champion’ and ‘Activities Coordinator of the Year’.
More than 2,900 nominations were received from homes and hospitals across the UK. All entries were a very high standard and Kelly Scott is over the moon to have been named the winner for the north division beating hundreds of other nominees.
Kelly Scott said: “I wasn’t expecting to be shortlisted but I am so pleased, and proud. We don’t work in care for the accolades but it’s wonderful to be recognised by my team and peers, it is nothing short of an honour”.
Dartmoor Zoo
We were able to virtually dive into the impressive wildlife of Dartmoor Zoo.
We explored its grounds and learnt about the unique history of the park from the zoo’s educational team. The culmination of the tour was the live tiger training demonstration, which was wonderful to see and enjoyed by all.
Our residents were delighted to see amazing photos and short videos of the animals and take a peek inside their home.
Three Lions on a shirt!
Residents and staff at Lindum House care home in Beverley have been cheering on their home sides throughout the Euros. The home has been decked out with flags and residents have been enjoying all the action over the past three weeks. Everyone is so excited that Gareth’s boys have been doing so well!
Fans of the beautiful game at Lindum House were delighted to be able to watch this year’s fixtures after the disappointment of last year’s tournament having to be postponed. Residents and staff have been getting together to watch the matches and celebrate with a cold beer and footie-inspired bar snacks whipped up by head chef Mo Bah.
Denise Rouse, General Manager at the home, said: “We have loved watching the Euros, we have watched pretty much all the matches – lots of our residents are footie fans. It has been fantastic to be able to cheer on all the home sides and especially England – it makes all the difference when your side is winning!”
Virtual trip to Iceland
We took a wonderful virtual trip to Iceland’s Puffin Rescue Centre at the Beluga Whale Sanctuary.
We were able to virtually meet some of the rescued Atlantic Puffins and to learn interesting facts about their care and unique lives. We took a peek into their lives in the wild, the Puffling rescue program in the Westman Islands, and how SEA LIFE Trust Beluga Whale Sanctuary’s team takes care of these charismatic little birds each day.
It was a very exciting experience, enjoyed by all.
Senior carer qualifies as Care Practitioner
Staff at Lindum House in Beverley were delighted when Senior Carer, Yazz Craven completed her training to become a Care Practitioner, a new role which will enable her to support nurses in the home.

Yazz Craven was presented with flowers, balloon and a special gift at a celebration in the home to mark their achievement.
The Care Practitioner role has been introduced by Barchester Healthcare, the organisation that runs the home, in order to further develop talented care staff and enable them to give more support to the nurses working at the home.
Yazz Craven is the first person at the home to complete the course and the is already making a big difference to maintaining and developing its standard of care.
Yazz Craven was presented with flowers, balloon and a special gift at a celebration in the home to mark their achievement.

WW2 talk with Blenheim Palace
Ahead of Armed Forces Day, we were transported back in time for a World War II themed talk and tour of Blenheim Palace, hosted by Antonia Keaney, the Palace’s social historian and author.
Entitled ‘Evacuees and Espionage,’ Antonia’s wartime themed talk focused on how the Marlborough family, estate staff and the Palace itself played a full and energetic part in the war effort.
The talk and tour told the story of how the Palace prepared for the worst, survived the onslaught of 400 boys being evacuated to Blenheim and kept the secrets of MI5.
It was a lovely experience, enjoyed by all.
