Activities at Lindum House Care Home

Our fantastic Activities Coordinators make sure that there is a full programme of social events to suit all interests and capabilities. They aim to not only to stimulate, but to ensure that everyone involved has lots of fun. We enjoy trips out visiting local places of interest or just to explore, which inevitably ends up with us having a lovely lunch somewhere.

There are regular concerts that we hold in the home that allows us to have a good old singalong, and our community links include the local churches, knit and natter groups and toddler groups coming in to see residents.

On a daily basis, everyone enjoys a variety of activities, including quizzes, bingo, arts and crafts, reminiscing and movement to music. We also host movie afternoons on the big screen which, of course, involves popcorn and ice cream at the interval!

Any residents who are unable to join us in the communal areas for activities have one-to-one time in their rooms, with us either reading to them, chatting or anything else they wish to do that’s within their capabilities.

Kelly Rolph

Activities Co-ordinator

Hi there, I'm Kelly. My role at Lindum House ensures all of our residents always have lots of fun activities to look forward too.

I grew up down south, my parents worked in news trade & I've lived in many places! I've lived in hull for 20 years now, worked in health and social care for around 15 years, I started on care, worked through domestic, kitchen assistant and found my calling with activities!

I'm a super social person, enjoy being busy and sing in my spare time. I am part of a small singing charity group 'guise & gals'. I've been singing karaoke since I was 18 but never had the confidence to take it any further. I do, however, love putting on a show for our residents!

I'm a strong believer in 'treat people how you wish to be treated' everyone is different and it's important to focus on each individuals wants and needs, to encourage and nurture life, you only live once!

I'm full of energy, providing there is music... it's good for my soul!

Our residents smiles are my reward, it makes me so happy to see them enjoying them selves.

Life at Lindum House Care Home

Giving thanks

At Lindum House care home, we have recently bid a fond well to Operations Manager, Catherine Campbell who has been supporting in the home.  Catherine supported the home throughout the festive period and we wanted to say a ‘big thank you’ to Catherine as she moves to support another home in the division.  Catherine was presented with a bouquet of beautiful colourful flowers and a small gift as a token of our appreciation.  We wish Catherine well and good luck in her future work.

Badges of Pride

Here at Lindum House we are proudly wearing our ‘Badges of Pride’, given by Barchester Healthcare in recognition of leading by example, being together in our purpose, and having played our part in the fight against Covid19.  The badges are being worn with pride to share our positive vaccine experience with our colleagues and others, so they can play their part too.

Burns Celebrations at Lindum House

Lindum House care home in Beverley prepared a traditional Burns Night Supper to the tune of bagpipes and the fun continued well into the wee small hours.

Staff and residents at the home were involved in a number of activities, with poetry recitals from Robert Burns virtually, Bagpipes and Highland Dancing. We also enjoyed tasting Haggis with a drop of Whiskey to mark the Scottish institution, including giving the time-honoured address to the ‘Great chieftain O’ the pudding’ race’ – the haggis.

General Manager, Catherine Campbell, at Lindum House, thought it was a perfect occasion to celebrate an evening steeped in age-old tradition as well as getting in a spot of Scotch whisky tasting, reading a selection of Burns’ poems and virtual tour of Edinburgh Castle and Balmoral Castle.

International Flower Day

Residents at Lindum House in Beverley celebrated International Flower Day which took place on 19thJanuary.

International Flower Day promotes the psychological boost that flowers can give to people. From growing and nurturing plants and flowers, to gifting flowers to show love and appreciation, and sometimes just the simple act of admiring their beauty – flowers have the power to make someone’s day.

Residents took part in flower-based activities throughout the day including flower arranging, reminiscing about their gardens and flowers in the home’s garden, virtual visits to famous gardens on YouTube, and a flower quiz which everyone really enjoyed.  Their collective knowledge about flowers gained from years of gardening experience was very impressive.

Vaccine brings joy to residents and staff

Residents at Barchester’s Lindum House care home, in Beverley, were delighted to receive their vaccination from Karebor, Mark, Hannah and Lydia from the Beverley PCN care home team. It has lifted everyone’s spirits after what has been a very challenging year for everyone.

General Manager, Catherine Campbell said: “Last year was a year like no other and the vaccine feels like the light at the end of the tunnel.  Our teams have been magnificent in how they have risen to every challenge during this pandemic and we are proud to play our part in this next phase to ensure the most vulnerable are protected.”
