Activities at Leonard Lodge Care Home

Activities at Leonard Lodge

Our activities team offer a wide range of social events, from the very popular Friday morning bingo, to gentle exercise sessions, skittles, regular animal visits and arts & crafts sessions. We are fortunate to have a team of volunteers who stop by weekly to provide additional support, allowing residents the opportunity for one-to-one sessions. These sessions could include anything, even something as simple as playing a game of Scrabble or just having a cup of tea and a chat. We believe that it is essential to support people in such a way that they are able to continue to live full and happy lives doing the things that they enjoy.

Lynn Amiri

Activities Coordinator

My name is Lynn and I lead the Activities Team here at Leonard Lodge.

Since working at Leonard Lodge I have dedicated myself to ensuring that each of our residents can continue to partake in the hobbies that they have enjoyed for years. It is important that all of the residents here have access to life enriching, fun and social activities.

The whole home supports my team and I to organise activities, events and entertainment tailored to every residents preferences, abilities and needs. Each year we have a fantastically full calendar, and we look forward to the future when we can invite the families of residents to join us in the home again.

I am married with two children and two rather annoying rescue cats. I lived in Italy for a number of years and love all Italian food, especially when somebody else cooks it for me! I love to read, especially crime novels. I am a regular theatre goer with a passion for musicals. I like to sing and dance (albeit badly!).

Cupcake Day

Cupcake Day

Residents and staff joined forces for a morning of cupcake decorating. Lots of cakes were decorated and some were eaten before they even made it into the photo. Everyone agreed it was a fun activity and a very tasty one as well.

Bridal Party

Bridal Party

We were thrilled to welcome the family of resident, Mrs Holmes on the day of her daughter's wedding. Mrs Holmes looked lovely in her wedding day outfit and the bride looked absolutely stunning. There wasn't a dry eye to be seen.

Zoolab Visits

Zoolab Visits

Pictured is Leonard Lodge resident, Mr. Beamish, doing his Dr. Dolittle impersonation during a visit from Zoolab. Lots of residents handled the various insects and animals, unlike the staff, who weren't so brave. However, we all agreed that it was an interesting and informative visit.

Garden Party

Garden Party

Leonard Lodge residents and staff enjoyed a garden party on August's bank holiday Monday. The party was hosted by the family of former resident, Gerry, to celebrate his life.

There was music by singer, Carly Hipson, a wonderful buffet, lots of laughter and the sun shone on us as we shared memories of Gerry with his family. It was a fitting tribute to a lovely man who will be sorely missed.

15 Years of Service

15 Years of Service

Congratulations to June Dube, Memory Lane Unit Manager, on completing 15 years service at Leonard Lodge. June is a valuable member of our team, providing continuity of care to our residents with her compassion, vast knowledge of dementia care and professionalism.

Goodbye, Lizy

Goodbye, Lizy

We all got together to wish Memory Lane night nurse, Lizy, a very happy retirement. Lizy will be sorely missed, but has promised to come back and visit us.
