Activities at Leeming Bar Grange Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life. Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Kimberley Calvert

Senior Activities Coordinator

Hi my name is Kimberley, Senior Activities Coordinator, and here at Leeming Bar our life enrichment programme is varied, providing choice for our residents and incorporating their interests and hobbies.  We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within Leeming Bar, and we work together to give residents the best possible experience.

We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centred program of events and activities. Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents, and their families and friends.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Bewitching tricks & spooky treats at Leeming!

Residents and staff got in to the spirit of things by decorating the home creating Halloween decorations, icing spooky biscuits and cupcakes prepared by the home’s chef, going on a Halloween treasure hunt with prizes, holding a pumpkin carving competition, having a silent disco with Halloween-themed songs, music, mocktails and party games.

Giving thanks!

Yesterday we were very kindly visited by our good friends Reverend Canon Simon Moor & Chaplain Michelle Dearlove from Bedale Benefice of Churches for our harvest festival. Residents came together to give thanks with a beautiful service of prayer, hymns, poetry, and togetherness.

A big thank you to those who have kindly donated food items for Hambleton Foodshare. Please do consider donating non-perishable food items at our drop off point at the entrance to the home.

Pet Therapy at its best!

We have had some wonderful visits from our good friends Jack, Alf & Wendy from Nationwide!

As always, smiles lit up the home as our friends’ visited residents. It is incredible to see the bursts of joy that come from lots of love & snuggles with Jack & Alf

Some Mother's do Ave Em

Residents across our services had a fantastic time enjoying the virtual screening of Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em. Frank Spencer’s comical misadventures had everyone laughing and it was wonderful to see so many happy faces.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and a special thanks to The Barn Theatre in the Cotswolds for bringing this stage adaptation of the beloved sitcom to our screens.

MacMillan Coffee Morning!!

We had a latte fun at our Macmillan Coffee Morning in support of Macmillan Cancer Support! Residents, loved ones & the team enjoyed a relaxed coffee morning filled with an array of delicious bakes!Having a coffee morning is the perfect chance to catch up over a cuppa and a slice of something delicious for a great cause. The money raised helps everyone with cancer to live life as fully as they can.

Country Music Day

Cowboy Chris Gilly & his guitar had the rodeo a-go-go, with nobody being able to resist having a toe-tapping boogie to all the old classics from the likes of John Denver, Johnny Cash, Kenny Rodgers, Tammy Wynette, and Dolly Parton to name but a few country legends!
