Activities at Leeming Bar Grange Care Home
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Hi my name is Kimberley, Senior Activities Coordinator, and here at Leeming Bar our life enrichment programme is varied, providing choice for our residents and incorporating their interests and hobbies. We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within Leeming Bar, and we work together to give residents the best possible experience.
We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centred program of events and activities. Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents, and their families and friends.

Life at Leeming Bar Grange Care Home
Music Magic!
The home was alive with the sound of music today as we were joined once again by the amazing Liz from ‘Liz Latta's Music Matters’ for our community choir! Passionate renditions of Edelweiss, White Cliffs of Dover, and Catch a Falling Star were shared, along with enthusiastic singing to upbeat ditties such as She'll be Coming Round the Mountain, Dem Bones, and supercalifragilisticexpialidocious! The power of music in providing connection is absolute magic!
Welcoming the Year of the Dragon!
On 10th February we celebrated the start of the lunar New year with a virtual trip to China to experience the sights, sounds, and flavours of Chinese New Year!
A delicious selection of dim sum were sampled as residents embraced this cultural experience. From learning Chinese greetings, exploring zodiac signs & participating in Chinese traditions, to receiving a visit from our very own dragon who performed a flamboyant dance to share prosperity & cheer!

Love is in the Air!
Love was in the air this Valentine’s Day as we celebrated our loved ones & each other! Whilst Valentine's Day traditionally celebrates romantic love, we used this opportunity to celebrate our love for one another & the beautiful friendships that blossom so effortlessly in the home.
The home’s Valentine's Day celebrations began with a very special visit from love bug Jack the dog from ‘Therapy Dogs Nationwide’. We didn't think Jack could be any more handsome, but we were proved wrong as Jack came proudly dressed up to the nines in his bandana and bow tie! Jack is the epitome of 'love comes in all shapes and sizes'; making sure that each and every resident knew just how loved they are on this very special day
Our Valentine's soirée saw crooner Laurie Bennet serenade us with our favourite love songs; as residents indulged in a delicious afternoon tea of savoury pastries, a selection of cakes & sweets and chocolate dipped strawberries, all washed down with pink prosecco & many warming brews!
Valentine's virtual event
Across our homes we had a fantastic time joining, Kathryn Delve, Master Florist, for a Valentine’s-inspired live virtual flower arranging demonstration. Kathryn shared brilliant and creative ways to decorate our tables with beautiful flowers that are sure to make your heart swoon!
Those participating in this virtual event put their skills to the test and followed along with some amazing creations of their own. Residents truly enjoyed the experience.

Residents at Leeming Bar Grange in Leeming Bar have been discovering all things Antipodean in celebration of Australia Day, which took place on Friday 26th January.
Residents took part in Australian-themed activities throughout the day including a ‘Waltzing Matilda Sing Along’, Aussie baking, and a quiz to test their knowledge!
The favourite activity of the day was however a visit to the outback for some bush tucker trials! Residents nominated team members to tuck in to a variety of exotic challenges, from 'snake eyes' and 'pickled larvae', to 'kangaroo unmentionables'; with team members earning special treats for residents for every challenge devoured! Including a classic Aussie sweet treat called fairy bread, kindly made by residents.
New Year's Eve!
We have been celebrated the new year in the best way possible; with friends, feasting, frivolity, the fandango, & an abundance of fun! The bubbles were flowing as we celebrated the past year and the meaningful moments we have created together! Here's to many more in 2024!
