Activities at Hampton Grove Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Community Thanks

Today Hampton Groves General Manager, Krzysztof, and Activities Leader, Lisa, went out into the local community to visit the companies and people that help to create a sense of community for our residents. They visited Cross Key Kingfisher, Friary Court, Cathedral Green, St Peter's church, a local pharmacy, Yaxley Library and the Peterborough Alzheimer's society to hand out our Barchester bags. We have invited the Alzheimer's society to join us at out next Dementia Café on Monday 25th July as its incredibly important for you as friends and families of those living with dementia to have access to these vital sources of information and support.

Jean's Dreams Come True - Beside the Sea!

Resident, Jean Monaghan, at Hampton Grove had always wanted to return to her favourite holiday destination as a child, and as a mother herself she recalls fond memories of taking the family to; Hunstanton, so this week staff at the home made her wish a reality.

Jean has lived at Hampton Grove for over a year and is beloved by staff and residents alike. Staff at the home were delighted to be a part of making her dream come true, as they knew how much it meant to her. As the sun shone, we set off in the homes’ minibus packed with, sun hats, buckets and spades.

Making dreams come true with fish, chips and mushy peas on the seafront with an impromptu rendition of ‘I do like to be beside the seaside, beside the sea’! Before visiting some of the traditional promenade shops to buy sticks of rock and get our fingers sticky eating freshly made doughnuts. It was a glorious day, just right for a stroll down memory lane and paddle in the sea.

In response to this wonderful surprise, Jean, said: “I was on the verge of tears. It is such an amazing feeling to know that such a loving group of people care so much about me that they helped me relive my seaside adventures.”

Krzysztof Krzysztofiak, General Manager at the home, said: “We want everyone we care for to know how important they are to us here at Hampton Grove. It was so nice to see how happy Hunstanton made Jean and her fellow day trippers – we’ll definitely be planning more ‘dreams come true’ moments throughout the year.”

Wimbledon Strawberries and Games

To celebrate Wimbledon we spent the morning playing lots of fun games in the dining room, and the afternoon relaxing watching the latest matches with homemade Victoria Sponge cake and of course fresh strawberries!

Blitz Dancers

To start of our Open Day we had a brilliant performance by Blitz Dancers. This dancing duo had us all up singing and dancing along to some of the residents favourite songs from the 40s and 50s! They finished off with the classic ‘we'll meet again’ by Vera Lynn.

Happy Birthday!

We would like to say a massive happy birthday to Janet who celebrated her 87th birthday yesterday. Four of Janet's closest friends; Gordon, Christine, Mary and Maureen, surprised her with a birthday party in our third floor pub. They all socialized and enjoyed each other’s company with tea/coffee and cake. Our activities team stayed with them serving teas and cakes made by our brilliant kitchen team. Janet often likes a walk in the garden and likes to play the piano in the reception lobby. She is a very passionate, lovely and sociable lady.
