Activities at Hall Park Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Life at Hall Park Care Home

Scottish Galleries virtual tour

We had a lovely time joining Becca Clark and James Wylie – members of V&A Dundee’s exhibitions team – as they took us on a virtual tour of the museum’s incredible Scottish Design Galleries.

We were introduced to the wide range of unique objects at the galleries from architecture and engineering, jewellery and textiles to theatre and their fascinating stories.

And we were able to learn more about the importance of all objects in telling the rich and varied history of Scottish design.

It was a lovely talk, enjoyed by all.

Sea Life Trust Beluga Whales

We took a wonderful virtual trip to Iceland and visited the SEA LIFE Trust Beluga Whale Sanctuary to have an inside look into the daily care of their two resident beluga whales: Little White and Little Grey.

Our residents were introduced to the history of the Beluga Whale Sanctuary and learnt more about its mission to provide a more natural home for belugas in human care with a first-hand look at how the dedicated team are not only caring for the whales, but preparing for their future in the sea sanctuary!

It was an enjoyable event for everyone, learning more about the amazing beluga whales and how they are cared for at the sanctuary.

Home present cheque to local charity

Hall Park care home in Bulwell, Nottingham recently presented Trent Dementia Services Development at The Institute of Mental Health with a cheque for £600.00

Trent Dementia is a charity which aims to improve the quality of care, support and wellbeing of people who are living with dementia in the East Midlands and beyond. We run projects and events and aim to work alongside people with dementia and their supporters. Their Life with Dementia project includes planning and executing events led by people living with dementia for professionals and their families. They also coordinate walking groups and three online groups of people living with dementia: craft evening, Friends for Life peer support group, and Health and Wellbeing group.

The organisation’s request was for funding for the creation of two different activity packs to support people with dementia and their families online to make a cake and make tiles from clay at home. They started 3 weekly online groups in March 2020 to replace face to face meetings. They facilitate these groups and have sent out nearly 500 packs to members and have met 156 times so far with groups of 6 to 12 people.
