Activities at Glenroyd Care Home

Here at the Glenroyd our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. Everyone is different and gets pleasure from different things and here at Glenroyd we understand that and therefore try to provide a programme of activity that is tailored to individuals needs. We do this by gathering information and life history work and using that information to feed into our activities schedule. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Agata Prendota

Activities Coordinator

Hi, my name is Agata Prendota and I am the activities coordinator here at Glenroyd. I have worked at Glenroyd since 2014 and in April 2022 transferred to activities. I developed a strong relationship with many of our residents and their families. This has helped me to create a tailored activities program focused on maximizing everyone’s wellbeing, independence, and social engagement.

It is my goal to create a stimulating environment that enables to provide imaginative, fun, and motivational activities that suit every interest and ability. My infectious enthusiasm and creative approach are the key to inspire our residents and staff to get involved in activities both within the home and in the local community.

I am passionate about my role and especially the challenge of coming up with new ways to engage as many residents as possible in daily activities.

Life at Glenroyd Care Home

Baking Club

Baking Club

We hold a regular Baking Club and, recently, we were making muffins, double chocolate cakes and cookies. Residents loved helping each other out to bake these treats for our afternoon tea.

Easter Crafts

Easter Crafts

Easter time is all about having fun! We have enjoyed many sessions of arts and crafts, creating cards, bonnets, decorations, and cakes whilst reminiscing about our past Easter celebrations. The residents have loved puzzles and quizzes related to Easter and we are excited for our Easter coffee morning to taste our yummy homemade cake!

Afternoon Tea Party

Afternoon Tea Party

Each week, we hold an afternoon tea party and decide what theme we should base it around. Most recently, it was all about exploring new teas and how beneficial they can be for us. A lot of us learned about teas we didn’t even know existed and why it’s important to keep hydrated.

Fun Fruit Friday

Fun Fruit Friday

We all loved celebrating Nutrition & Hydration Week; on each day, there was a different theme. Friday was 'Fun Fruit Friday; everyone loved exploring all the different flavours and textures of different fruits and had fun creating the platter and dishing the fruit pots out to everyone.

Nursery Visit

Nursery Visit

We were recently joined by children from our local nursery. It was such a lovely time for the residents and children; they had lots of fun creating pictures and getting to know each other. We have now decided, because it went so well, that we will be having weekly visits from them.
