Activities at Glebefields Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Celebrating St Patrick's Day

Day with flower club. The home was decorated with shamrocks and all things green, white and gold!

The home marked the day with a word search and quiz game of St Patrick's. Listening to their favourite country and western songs and testing each other’s knowledge on Irish history and reciting limericks.

Chef prepared a fantastic Irish spread of traditional Irish dishes including potato soup with soda bread and stew, all washed down with a pint of Guinness, an Irish whiskey or Baileys.

General Manager, Nisha said: “Our residents have all had a brilliant day today, everyone has enjoyed the festivities – I think we all agree St Patrick’s Day is the best of all the saints days!"

Happy Birthday 'Marvellous Marlene'

It's great fun to celebrate our residents birthday in our care home but it's more fun when their full family joins us for the wonderful celebration.

Here comes our lovely Marlene's Birthday function and yes we made it a grand celebration by decorating our Glebefields Care home. Their family joined us, they brought many good memories of Marlene childhood with them. Marlene daughter was so happy to see Mom celebrating her birthday with all other residents. Our Chef Boss and Vincent made the wonderful cake and some afternoon snacks for the celebration.

They were dancing and having fun. Yes it's true that "Together we make a family" and we proved it. Marlene was very happy and excited to see each and everything we did for her happiness. Marlene's family also enjoyed the time spent in the care home with us. We love you Marlene and we wish you many more successful years to come.

Celebrating International Women's Day

Residents at Glebefields marked International Women’s Day (IWD) on March 8th by spending the day celebrating the achievements of wonderful trail-blazing women throughout history.

Our residents took part in various activities, from flower arranging to creating a collage to represent the beauty of all women!

Pam, Marlene, Freidal and Minnie had a wonderful time discussing the role of the many different women with the homes’ care team. They talked about the important women in their own lives and celebrated strong women in history from Cleopatra and Boudica, to Florence Nightingale and Marie Curie right through to our late Queen.

The ladies enjoyed cutting into a freshly made chocolate cake courtesy of Chef Vincent over a sweet treat filled afternoon tea.

Nisha Shaji, General Manager at Glebefields said: “We’ve all had a really interesting day thinking about the very many brilliant women who have had such an impact on our lives, whether that was an historic figure or people in our own family. It was good to share our experiences, take stock and reflect on how much society has changed over the years.”

Resident Minnie commented: “It is amazing to think how much things have changed just in my lifetime, when I was younger there were so many things it was deemed inappropriate for women to do. It is wonderful that women have so many more opportunities these days and days like this are so important to make sure we keep going in the right direction.”

Pictureseque Views

Yesterday residents at Glebefields Carehome enjoyed a short walk around the home to enjoy the weather and the pictureseque views that we are blessed. They were very happy to feel fresh air.

June and Moira joined together and were having chit chat sitting in the garden. June came on respite to our Carehome and returned back to her home after a few weeks. After going back June started to miss the happiness and life she had with us. June came back and is now a permanent resident with us.

June made many friends and is an expert in playing Scrabble Game. June and Moira enjoyed the walk and wish to have a walk very often.
