Activities at Glebefields Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Happy Mother's Day

We celebrated Mother’s Day with visits and video calls from family members near and far. The home was beautifully decorated with fresh flowers and bunting for the occasion.

Staff at Glebefields arranged an afternoon tea party, with fresh flowers posies for every lady and a small goodie bag with chocolate and lavender seeds. The chef, prepared a delicious cake for the mothers and they all together had a cake cut in the dining room. They enjoyed the cake and appreciated the chef for making such a delicious cake.

General Manager, Nisha Shaji said: “We’ve all had a really lovely day. It has been so good to see family members who were able to visit in person and to have video calls with those who are further away. Our residents enjoyed a fantastic lunch and then a delicious afternoon tea with cake prepared by our brilliant chefs. Our wonderful ladies have loved being spoiled, days like these are so special.”

Lucia's Pet Therapy

We had a lovely visit from Lucia ‘s petting farm. Animals which included rabbits, Guinea pigs, Bobby the chicken, Iguana, mother and baby tortoise and a bearded dragon. All our residents enjoyed spending time with the tiny animals. Bert was very excited and wanted to buy one among them to have it as his own pet. Ivy, Pam, Barry, Connie, June, Christine, Helen, Malcolm, and Frieddel enjoyed the special touch by the animals. They felt very happy. And we were happy to see their happiness.

"Animals improve peoples mental, physical, social, and emotional functioning with the aid of animals. Depending on the needs of the individual, many different animals can be used in therapy".

Celebrating St Patrick's Day

Day with flower club. The home was decorated with shamrocks and all things green, white and gold!

The home marked the day with a word search and quiz game of St Patrick's. Listening to their favourite country and western songs and testing each other’s knowledge on Irish history and reciting limericks.

Chef prepared a fantastic Irish spread of traditional Irish dishes including potato soup with soda bread and stew, all washed down with a pint of Guinness, an Irish whiskey or Baileys.

General Manager, Nisha said: “Our residents have all had a brilliant day today, everyone has enjoyed the festivities – I think we all agree St Patrick’s Day is the best of all the saints days!"
