Activities at Glebefields Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

U3A Ukulele Group

This week the wonderful U3A Adderbury Ukes Ukulele group joined residents and friends at Glebefields to provide us all with an amazing performace. Unbeknown to us they know resident Minnie who used to go along to the practice group. Minnie recognised a couple of the players immediately and couldn't wait to join in!

Minnie’s always talking about her love of the Ukulele but has not got the strength to play anymore, that didn't stop her getting involved and up and dancing. Minnie said; "today has fulfilled a wish, seeing the group and hearing them play, thank you."

National Dog Day - Dog Show

In celebration of National Dog Day our residents invited furry friends from across the local community to the Glebefields Bank Holiday Monday ‘Dog Show’.

National Dog Day is an annual event to raise awareness of the number of dogs in rescue centres and to encourage people to adopt dogs from shelters and dog homes. Our residents had a brilliant time meeting the various breeds Cockapoos to Pomeranian pooches! We learnt from the owners all about each man’s best friend’s favourite foods and unique characteristics.

Staff and residents watched on as each dog showed their agility on the assault course and paraded around the ‘dog’ walk stopping for cuddles and strokes as they were judged against the listed categories. The winners included…

5 year old Cockapoo ‘Crumble’ – Waggiest Tail
7 year old English springer spaniel ‘Rhia’ – Best Tricks
3 year old Pomeranian ‘Suzie’ – Best Puppy

General Manager, Nisha Shaji said: “Our residents love all animals and especially man’s best friend! We would like to thank everyone who brought their dog along to the show and to the doggies themselves for being so well behaved and a delight to see.”
