Glebefields home manager; Nisha has been out and about in Banbury, Oxfordshire to find Santa's little helpers. Can you find them all? There are 9 reindeer and 7 elves hiding in windows around Castle Quay, Banbury and the immediate town centre for children to find.

Simply pick up a finders form from Glebefields Care Home on Stratford Road or download the attached poster for the chance to win a delicious Christmas selection box. Completed forms can be emailed to Glebefields@barchester.com or pop into the home to pick up your prize. Christmas Jumper Day at Glebefields and the festive vibes are in full swing! Residents and staff are rocking their cheerful jumpers, adding a touch of holiday joy to the day. What makes it even better is that we're not just having fun; we're also supporting Save the Children. Each jumper is a symbol of kindness, making this day extra special. Join us in making the world a bit brighter together!

We had an incredible time at Glebefields Care Home's Christmas Fayre!

Thanks to everyone who joined us for a festive afternoon filled with joy and laughter. The craft stalls added a touch of creativity, and the excitement of the Tombola and Raffle kept the energy high. Our home made cake stall was a sweet delight, and the hot refreshments, especially the favourite mulled wine, along with mince pies, warmed our hearts.

A special shout out to our lovely resident Ivy, who nailed the "Guess How Many Sweets in a Jar" game, hitting the sweet spot with 93 chocolates! The village stalls were a hit, offering cosy knitted wear, beautifully decorated pots, paintings, cakes, sweets, crafts, and gem jewellery. The festive spirit was in full swing!

Santa stole hearts, bringing smiles to both young and old. Everyone received special gifts, making the day even more magical. A big thank you to the villagers and participants for making this event a success! Your contributions added sparkle to our festive celebration. 

General Manager Nisha Shaji shared, "It was very happy to see the community come together for our Christmas Fayre. The creativity and generosity on display truly made it a special occasion. Thank you to everyone who contributed and participated, making it a memorable event for all."

Elf Day celebrations at Glebefields was wonderful! Residents and staff got into the festive spirit by dressing up in elf costumes. Our activity coordinator, Kay, shared the fascinating history of Elf Day, making the celebration even more special.

As part of the fun, everyone wore elf hats, enjoyed some laughs with elf jokes, and took part in lively elf quizzes. The atmosphere was filled with joy and togetherness, kicking off the holiday season with a delightful Elf Day celebration.

We had a celebration for our beloved resident Edith's birthday, joined by both residents and staff. Edith enjoyed a lovely pink cake, making a wish and beaming with a beautiful smile as she blew out the candle. To add to the happiness, Edith received a surprise gift a lovely cardigan and her favourite sweets. The evening was filled with love and celebration, making it truly special!

Staff and residents had a wonderful time reminiscing about their childhoods on World Children’s Day, which took place on November 20. Everyone got into the spirit of the day receiving visits from their grandchildren, enjoying childhood sweets and treats, remembering how their childhoods differ from their grandchildren’s today, listening to staff tell stories about their childhoods spent in other countries etc. They loved remembering all the positives from times gone by, thinking about how much things have changed and learning about each other’s experiences.

We had Little Sparrow Nursery Kids who came to visit our lovely residents and read them two stories. Residents were very happy to see the kids. Marlene said that it’s good to be a kid rather than growing up because kids are very innocent and innocence faces are admired by everyone. Celebrated annually on November 20, World Children’s Day is supported by UNICEF and aims to help save children’s lives and defend their rights in 190 countries around the world.

General Manager Nisha Shaji said: “Our residents love interacting with children, their absolute favourite thing is when children come to visit. It has been so lovely for many of them to have visits from their grandchildren and local school children. World Children’s Day is a great way for our residents to reminisce about their childhoods and share stories.”
