Activities at Four Hills Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Our activity and lifestyle programme is arranged for all our residents to participate in and is updated regularly based on ideas from our residents group during our resident forum. Our Resident of the Day strategy ensures each person receives at least one day each month where the focus is all about them.

We have a monthly concert and to date this is appreciated and enjoyed by most residents. The Four Hills Taverns is open for business every Friday afternoon and is an area where residents and staff socialise, hold pub quizzes and partake in a little refreshment.

The team at Four Hills try hard to meet everyone's needs and encourage all residents and their families to join in the fun.

Life at Four Hills Care Home

Celebrating the Hindu festival of Navratri

Residents and staff had a great day together celebrating the Hindu festival of Navratri, here at Four Hills we believe in celebrating all cultures, staff dressed up in traditional costumes and provided traditional foods for residents to try, the room was all decorated in bright colours with traditional music playing, the residents were very impressed by the staff dancing abilities as they showed us there traditional dances.

Rose said "it was fantastic and a great way to learn about different cultures that she didn’t know much about before today".

Knit and Natter

Residents are loving our new group activity session a weekly - Knit & Natter group – which is proving very popular!  Residents have been teaching each other different stitches and sharing patterns with each other and these sessions have led to some great reminiscing too as residents have shared their stories of past knitting creations, about how lots of clothes in their day were all hand-made.

It’s been great to see residents and staff joining together sharing pearls of wisdom.

Virtual afternoon at the theatre

Residents across our services had a fantastic time enjoying the virtual screening of Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em. Frank Spencer’s comical misadventures had everyone laughing and it was wonderful to see so many happy faces.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and a special thanks to The Barn Theatre in the Cotswolds for bringing this stage adaptation of the beloved sitcom to our screens.

Alpacas - Charlie and Chico.

Residents, staff and visitors were delighted to welcome two special guest into the home in the form of two beautiful Alpacas - Charlie and Chico.

They spent the day in our home going around all of our lounges and bedrooms visiting residents and visitors. Residents were very impressed by how well behaved and gentle they were around everyone.

Gertude said “it was fabulous experience and she thoroughly enjoyed petting them, she was very impressed at how soft their beautiful coat was”.

Pet therapy with a trip to the stables

We love our animal therapy here at Four Hills and residents really love their monthly visits to The local Riding for Disabled Stables, where we get to meet and groom all their lovely horses.

Betty had been reluctant about going as she said she was a bit scared of the horses so wouldn’t want to touch them but she would like to see them, It turns out Betty was not afraid at all as soon as we got there and she seen the beauty of the horses she couldn.t help but want to stroke and groom them, spending lots of time with every horse. Upon getting back to the home Betty said it was a great experience and she now had nothing to be fearful off.

Residents enjoy canal boat trip

Residents at Four Hills absolutely loved basking in the glorious sunshine on one of our three canal boat trips during September.

We set of early in the morning with our packed lunches in hand to soak in the beautiful scenery and wildlife on our local canal as we sat on the deck thanks to our friends at the Seagull Trust.

We saw some beautiful young heron birds on the banks, there were lots of ducks and swans and we even stopped to chat to a few fisherman on the way overall we have had 3 glorious days to enjoy
