Activities at Four Hills Care Home

Residents at Four Hills had a very informative afternoon thanks to the visiting University students who came into the home to give us a presentation on their home country of Indonesia. They brought in traditional dress and did a presentation on the types of patterns in their clothing, residents shared some information with them on our Paisley pattern and how similar they were in design.

Along with a very informative presentation on their culture they also brought us some traditional deserts for our residents to try, residents were very impressed with all the sweet and savoury flavours, they also gave out beautiful flowers and traditional Indonesian gifts for our residents to enjoy.

Colin commented on how great it was to learn about different cultures and how he was never too old to learn.
 

Residents at Four Hills celebrated bonfire night with a BANG, on bonfire night residents who wished to do so got wrapped up warm and joined us in our gardens for a small fireworks display, residents were amazed by all the lovely bright colours on display as they sat with their sparklers writing their names in the sky.

There was lots of fun and laughter shared with everyone as we sat and enjoyed our hot chocolate with marshmallows and chocolate apples.

Residents at Four Hills love nothing more than a spot of animal therapy,  some of them had been asking if it would be possible for us to have birds visit us, as they have seen all the snakes, spiders, rats and dogs and fancied something a little different.

We arranged for some Birds of Prey to visit us, residents loved being able to hold the birds and were very keen to gather as much information as possible from their keeper, who told us lots about their habitat, types of foods they eat and their daily routines.

Tommy said "it was a wonderful experience as he had previously enjoyed bird-watching and it was great to get a keeper’s perspective on them".
Residents look forward to having them back to visit in the future.
 

William McQuade has been honoured with an esteemed recognition at the Scottish Care Awards 2024, a prestigious evening awards ceremony celebrating the best of the independent care home sector in Scotland.   In Scotland, 87% of adult care home support is provided by the independent sector, caring for over 31,200 older individuals and employing nearly 43,800 dedicated individuals.

The Head of Maintenance from Four Hills Care Home has won the Ancillary & Support Staff Award category at the Scottish Care Awards 2024. This award recognises an excellent member of ancillary or support staff who makes a significant contribution to the overall care provision.
 

Residents across our services had a lovely time joining Emily and Marie-Therese from the Wallace Collection, for a virtual introduction to Reubens' Rainbow Landscape.

Residents truly enjoyed the sensory walk through one of the museum’s most famous landscape paintings.

Everyone who joined had a wonderful experience and can’t wait to put their creative skills to the test by painting some landscapes of our their in the coming days!

The ladies of Four Hills enjoyed a lovely day out at one of our favourite places to visit Dobbies Garden Centre, we loved seeing all the Halloween decorations and picked up some for the home for our Halloween party, we also loved seeing all the Christmas trees going up.

No trip to the garden centre is complete without a visit to the café for afternoon tea were we spent time chatting about our most magical Christmas memories.  The ladies said it had been a wonderful day and a great treat for them all.
