Activities at Four Hills Care Home

Our activity and lifestyle programme is arranged for all our residents to participate in and is updated regularly based on ideas from our residents group during our resident forum. Our Resident of the Day strategy ensures each person receives at least one day each month where the focus is all about them.

We have a monthly concert and to date this is appreciated and enjoyed by most residents. The Four Hills Taverns is open for business every Friday afternoon and is an area where residents and staff socialise, hold pub quizzes and partake in a little refreshment.

The team at Four Hills try hard to meet everyone's needs and encourage all residents and their families to join in the fun.

Life at Four Hills Care Home

Valentine's virtual event

Across our homes we had a fantastic time joining, Kathryn Delve, Master Florist, for a Valentine’s-inspired live virtual flower arranging demonstration. Kathryn shared brilliant and creative ways to decorate our tables with beautiful flowers that are sure to make your heart swoon!

Those participating in this virtual event put their skills to the test and followed along with some amazing creations of their own.  Residents truly enjoyed the experience.

Celebrating the day of love!

Four Hills was filled with flowers, cards and sweets in celebration of St Valentine’s Day.  Staff and residents celebrated the day of love by creating heart-shaped decorations to decorate the home and having an afternoon tea party where residents invited their significant others along to join us in the home.

General Manager, Eleanor Wilson, said: “We’ve all had a lovely day decorating the home and making gifts for each other and for our loved ones. Lots of our residents were able to see their loved ones either in person or via video call. We’ve had a whole range of treats and Valentine’s themed fun and we have enjoyed every moment of it!”

Enjoying the local Garden Centre

The ladies of Four Hills love nothing more than getting out and about to our local garden centre were we never fail to miss out on a trip to their wonderful café for tea and cakes, we always enjoy going round the shop looking at their wonderful displays, and what plants are in season. The ladies bought themselves some lovely plants to keep their rooms bright and cheery.

A Fun Bowling Trip

A few of the male residents at Four Hills had been asking about a trip to the bowling so this month we made that happen by enjoying a wonderful day out at Hollywood Bowl, we spent the whole day there experiencing the arcade games, playing air hockey, shooting some hoops at the basketball, playing pool and enjoying a few games of bowling all the while enjoying a few glasses of beer while we played, we even had time to stop off for some lunch.

The gents all agreed it was a wonderful experience that brought out lots of great memories and they all can’t wait to go back again.

The New Year piped in by David!

To help celebrate the dawning of a New Year the residents of Four Hills were treated to a visit on New Year’s day from our favourite piper David who thrilled them with traditional Scottish songs, Margaret commented that New Year is a fabulous tradition in Scotland and how great it is living in a care home but still being able to take part and enjoy all these traditions, after the music the resident were treated to a delicious traditional Scottish steak pie dinner with all the trimmings from our fabulous chef and all washed down with a few new year refreshments.

Medical Detection Dogs

Across our services residents had a fantastic time during a special live virtual event, led by Emilia from Medical Detection Dogs. Emilia took us on a journey to discover how the organisation began training dogs to support people with complex health conditions, saving their lives on a daily basis.

Using their amazing sense of smell, these dogs can identify odour changes emitted prior an episode and alert the person to take preventative action.

We were introduced to the wonderful dogs and the science behind the sniff.  It was a delightful experience for everyone, especially our canine-loving residents.
