Activities at Fountains Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Community Event at Fountains

Fountains Care home held a community event in the beautiful marketing suite on the Stratford Road (the old Shirley Aquatic Site) on Thursday 23rd January 2020.

Georgina Grace from BeautyAtHome who will be based at Fountains for a certain period during the week, kindly offered complimentary mini hand manicures to those lucky people who came along.

The treatment included a mini hand/arm massage, cut file & polish using either OPI. ORLY or CND polish.

Together Networking

Lorraine Shannon HSA Fountains Care Home enjoyed networking with “Together Networking”. The group meet monthly on the 3rd Thursday of each month at Four Ashes Golf Centre. There is a diverse group of businesses and services that come together to talk about their prospective businesses, discuss opportunities and celebrate success.

On this particular session the group were part of a presentation from Akhtar Ali (Crown Cars) to Lorraine Hart (Age UKSolihull) .Crown Cars came up with a promotion across Twitter and Facebook to encourage Crown Cars customers to download their taxi booking and payment app. For every download, Crown Cars donated £1 to Age UK Solihull throughout the month of December.

The campaign resulted in 250 downloads meaning that Age UK Solihull received £250 to help towards their service provision. How fantastic!!

Crown Cars are based in Solihull and are very much part of the local community so they wanted to choose a local charity to the area so that their donation could help local people.

For anyone interested in Together networking please contact the organiser Adam on 07599 417 343.

Christmas Market

Lorraine Shannon, HSA at Fountains Care Home, enjoyed the festive spirit and all the lovely food treats on offer at the Christmas market, Mell Square, Solihull. There was lots of choice of food from different parts of the globe to sample. There was a lovely buzz of activity.

There were a small selection of gift stalls, one of which was Jameana Gifts – selling affordable gifts ranging from jewellery items to ornaments. Deana the owner will be launching her website in 2020 www.jemenagifts.co.uk and wants to be the little corner shop on the website. Take a look.

Shirley Lions Santa Sleigh

Home Services Advisor, Lorraine Shannon, joined Shirley Lions Santa Sleigh to tour the streets of Shirley, giving local children an opportunity to see Santa and have photographs taken, all while raising funds for a worthwhile cause. The Sea Cadets also came out on a very cold evening to help with collections and support local children to enjoy the magic of Santa. Everyone had a lot of fun!
