Activities at Fountains Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

HOUSEKEEPING APPRECIATION WEEK

Here at fountains we all work together as a whole home approach, we believe in supporting each other and that team work makes the dream work. With that being said we do like to ensure that our different domains do receive recognition. With this week’s housekeeping appreciation week, we were able to thank our team for all the hard work they do to ensure our home is perfect, and maintains its high standards. All our housekeeping team were gifted with a certificate and chocolate treats as part of our appreciation.

SOLIHULL MAYOR & CONSORT COME AND VISIT

Our recent Open Day here at Fountains was a success, marked by a special visit from the major and her consort. The esteemed guests took the time to engage with our residents, families and visitors, fostering discussions about our local community. Our residents, brimming with excitement eagerly shared their experiences, creating a warm  and welcoming atmosphere. As they were guided through the home, the major and her consort were captivated by the impeccable décor and cleanliness. Their comments on the passion and care exhibited by our dedicated staff resonated deeply, with sentiment that fountains truly feels like a place of homely comfort and support.

The Grand Circus Spectacular

Wow, it was a spectacular afternoon for everyone!

We spent the afternoon being magically entertained by the magnificent Will-e droppit . Will-e droppit performed a variety of acts, which enabled residents and guests to join in.

This created plenty of laughter from everyone. The fair featured fantastic local stalls offering a variety of goodies, including hair accessories, cushions, homemade arts and crafts, sweet treats, and beautiful scented wax melts. Fountains ran a fun-filled, lucky dip raffle, which has helped raise funds for the Macmillan Charity.

A nice shout out to our second chefs Pat and Kitchen assistance Tal for the delicious food prepared and refreshments provided. After having our fill, everyone gathered for the big finale. General Manager Sara King took the sponge, literally. Well done for being such a good sport . A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this day special and creating brilliant memories for all. The feedback received has been phenomenal regarding our circus event.

Reminisce Café’ Zoo-Lab Visit

It was a fantastic Morning here at fountains, whilst we hosted our monthly reminisce café! A full bistro, with residents very keen on being introduced to some interesting creatures bought in by Ellie are Zoo-Lab rep. Ellie, used her knowledge to help categorise the creatures using an Olympic theme, by telling us very interesting facts about the different creatures that we were being introduced to. Everyone had the opportunity in which to get up close and personal with the creatures, some residents were very brave and chose to hold and touch them!

“This was great to see, I have never really been one for creepy crawly’ s but I have found this fascinating, I am pleased I was able to get up close.” Said Barbara a resident.

“I used to look after my neighbours snake when I was younger, it was lovely to be able to get close to the corn snake after such a long time, they truly are magnificent creatures” said Richard a resident.

OLYMPIC CELEBRATIONS

The Paris Olympics have been a highlight of our summer! Our residents have been very focused and engaged with watching the different events. With the inspiration from our regional director Clare Mudge, we linked up with our sister homes to get creative and let our residents design their own Olympic rings and link them with the Barchester values.

We had a day full of our own Olympic events, residents from two of our sister homes Edgbaston and Overslade house join us. This bought our residents together to participating in the different activities. The atmosphere was high, bright, uplifting, and everyone was raring to get the games started. Once we were finished, everyone was treated to a homemade fish and chips lunch with a homemade Manchester dessert, this was made by our own head chef Maria.

“Wow, this is just fantastic. I’m very pleased we came along and had this opportunity to meet everyone and see another of Barchester’s homes.” Said a guest resident.

After saying goodbye to our sister homes after lunch, our residents then settled down for a relaxed afternoon performance from David a local singer.

Here is what Sara King, Fountains General Manager had to share about the event “An amazing atmosphere, it was fantastic to see our residents faces light up with excitement when taking part in such an active morning of fun filled activities. We were more than delighted to have the opportunity to host our sister homes, and glad to hear such positive feedback from our visitors and those who took part.
