Activities at Fountains Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

SOLIHULL METHODIST CHRISTMAS CAROL SERVICE

The Solihull Methodist Christmas Carol service at our residents home was as successful event. The service included traditional Christmas Carols, reading from the bible, prayers and a chance for reflections on the Christmas story. Our residents, family, and friends were pleased with the service, there was lots of positive interactions with the volunteers from the choir who came along to bring  festive  joy to our home.  Afterwards everyone went up to our bistro area to continue with the festive celebrations with hot refreshments and homemade treats

DEC THE HALLS WITH BELLS & HOLLY

At Fountains care home, our residents, family members, staff, and guests  have come together to help create a cracking festive atmosphere within the home. Everyone has had the opportunity to contribute in their own way creating a unique Christmassy vibe to their home. Each part of the home has had a revamp increasing its festive look, the comments from our residents and visitors has been very positive.

Susan, a residents daughter, shared her thoughts on how the home was looking “Wow, you have all done it again! This place looks amazing and really has created that Christmas at home feeling.”

Fergus a resident at fountains commented “This is lovely, I do like to see traditional colours upon the tree.”

Fountains isn’t just a care home, it is a place where we celebrate memories, encourage creativity and support our residents to have a personal cherished place to live.

VISITING OUR LOCAL ARMED FORCES COMMUNITY GARDEN

We had the perfect opportunity to visit our local armed forces gardens, and it truly was a rewarding experience for our residents.

Our residents, took in the beautiful gardens which are nestled in a quiet area within our local park. This is an area which is open to everyone, and is a living tribute to service members, offering a peaceful escape and a chance for reflection. This did open up into our residents being able to share their own personal stories of the times they can remember.

“I’m so glad we had this chance. I always want to remember those who served especially my brother” expressed one of our female residents.

SPECTACULAR SPARKLING EVENING

Creating laughter and bringing light into everyone’s lives. Our residents and their loved ones who came to join us had a sparkling evening of joy.

With everyone gathered in our bistro area, and outside patio, we lit up the evening with sparkling sparklers.

“You forget sometimes, it’s the simple things like a sparkler which can make you feel so young and free” laughed Peter a resident.

Our exciting evening didn’t stop there, we then had homemade tomato and basil soup with freshly homemade cobs. This was just what was needed to help keep everyone nice and warm after the fun they had had. Of course we also had to try out the marshmallows with wafers again this was something new for our residents and were happy to report it was amazing!

“I am so grateful to see my mum enjoying herself, being out with others and her face so full of joy.” Praised residents daughter.

Our Botanical Pumpkins

This activity attracted many of our artistic enthusiasts to come along and explore their creative skills whilst enjoying the autumn spirit. We had gathered plenty of different materials including medium sized pumpkins, fresh flowers, and crafting supplies for everyone to join in. Our residents and family members chose to work together in mini groups, sharing their ideas and giving top tips whilst arranging their masterpieces. The experience on a whole was an amazing way for everyone to celebrate the autumn season in an enjoyable and artistic way.

Harvest Festival Service

At fountains, we just adore welcoming others into our home. It is always a pleasure when we have service leader Diane and other community volunteers from Solihull Methodist Church come along and hold a spiritual service for our residents. This month, we had the joy of celebrating harvest festival.

The service was uplifting and explained more about what the harvest festival means to others. We sang hymns related to our topic and finished off with the lords prayer.
