Activities at Fountains Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Then little cupid come along melting hearts and bringing smiles to our residents faces as she greeted and gifted them with treats, sharing her kindness to all. To wrap up the weekend, the Retro Rhythm dancers returned to bring even more joy to the residents. This energetic performance encouraged everyone to reminisce about the good old days.

KATH’S POP UP SHOP VISITS FOUNTAINS CARE HOME

By residents request we made it happen!! Thanks for local tradesman Alan, owner of Kath’s pop up shop. We were able to transform one of our lounge areas into a shop for our residents to be independent and browse at their own leisure. We did have lots of interest shown from all our residents, they liked that there was a variety of clothing and items to select from. With this make up shop it allowed everyone to have access and those who wished could browse through the catalogues and select items from there. After the event, we gathered feedback from our residents and they reported back they were pleased and wish to have another visit with the spring/ summer session.

CELEBRATING CHINESE NEW YEAR

Our residents enjoyed a festive and flavourful celebration of Chinese New Year, bringing the vibrant traditions of the holiday into the home.

Our dining rooms were brightly decorated with red lanterns, golden symbols of different meanings, we also had colourful decorations to set the mood which were made within our home.  The highlight of the day was the delicious Chinese New Year Meal which contained Chicken & Mushroom Chow Main, springs rolls, stir-fried vegetables, and prawn crackers. Afterwards our residents did express how much they had liked the meal and had savoured every bite. This whole event was a wonderful reminder of the excitement and joy that can come from embracing different cultures and celebrating together.

WALK AND EXPLORING THE GARDENS AT FOUNTAINS CARE HOME

With the sun shining upon us, we took this opportunity go out into our gardens. Whilst exploring the outdoors, our residents began to identify the different signs of the changes coming up. With the sprouting of daffodils and blossom on the trees. We had cheeky birds coming to greet us as they investigated what was on our bird feeders/ tables. This is was fantastic yet simple activity for everyone to enjoy. Our residents, enjoyed the fresh air and light physical exercise as they went along the scenic pathways smelling our different herbs such as Rosemary & Lavender, this lead us to other conversations and encouraged others to reminisce about their gardens over the years.

ARMCHAIR TRAVEL TO AUSTRALIA FOR NATIONAL AUSTRALIA DAY

In celebration of National Australia Day, our residents had an exciting virtual adventure to the land of down under- without ever leaving the comfort of their armchairs! By creating an armchair experience, residents were able to explore the sights, sounds, and culture of Australia in a fun and fascinating way.

Our wonderful resident Martin, took on the role of hostess for the journey, guiding everyone to their seats before we began to view the stunning sights and landmarks like the Sydney Opera House, and the Great Barrier Reef. The whole experience was filled with laughter, learning, and gave our residents the opportunity to interact and share their own holiday destinations.
