Activities at Fairview House Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Our Activities Coordinators create a weekly planner that consists of a variety of activities, which caters to all residents' needs as best as possible. The most popular activities are bingo, which we host twice a week, flower arranging and weekly visits from Vinnie our pet therapy dog. Residents also enjoy minibus trips in the nicer weather and we attend a concert every month. We are also involved in the Council Well-being Team, which keeps us up-to date with upcoming events within the community and provides interesting ideas for activities we can try in the home.
Throughout the year, we host various special events, including themed open days and summer and winter fetes that people in our local communities are welcome to join us for. We also have monthly church services with Rev. Ann from Danestone Congregational Church, which is open to loved ones as well.

Fairview House Activities Team
Chloe, Cecilia and Veronica make up our fantastic Activities Team here at Fairview House.
They develop and oversee an active living programme for each resident, which encourages mobility, social contact, independence and fun. Each and every person can thrive and live to their full potential with no day ever being the same. They bring great enthusiasm and spark to the home and have one passion, which is to deliver an amazing and vibrant activities programme to cater to all tastes and abilities.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Fairview House Care Home

Pink Day
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and we raised awareness by having a hight tea. Our residents, relatives, friends and staff all came together this afternoon to enjoy wonderful company and delicious pink treats prepared by our extremely talented chef.
The dining room was filled with lovely conversations and laughter while opera music was playing softly in the background. Everyone had a brilliant time.

A cheesy afternoon
Who does not love cheese? Our residents and relatives had a delightful afternoon at our Cheese and Ale event. Nothing beats a nice pint (or two) paired with a delicious cheeses, crackers and grapes.
The residents got to choose from a variety of cheeses, beautifully displayed by our talented chef, and pints. The smiles and laughter said it all. Great company and great food!

Meeting some owls
Three of our lovely ladies went on an outing to the Danestone Community Centre to meet the owls from Bob’s Buddies. They were amazed at how beautiful these owls were and they were really interested in all the interesting facts Bob gave about these owls.
To make this afternoon even better, Bob came with one of the owls for our ladies to see up close and to hold. Thank you, Bob’s Buddies, the ladies really enjoyed this experience.

Love is in the air!
A couple from Fairview House have celebrated sixty years of marriage. Ernie Wight and Joan Wight met at the Palace Ballroom in 1962 but Joan went on holiday straight after and Ernie did not see Joan until they met for a second time at the Palace Ballroom. Ernie said that something just “clicked” and they got married two years later in Mannofield Church.
Ernie and Joan had a life full of adventures. They travelled a lot and both agreed that their favourite holiday destination is Spain. Ernie and Joan did almost everything together, Joan even worked for Ernie for a while at his small PR company. Ernie and Joan are blessed with two children and five grandchildren with no great-grandchildren, yet.

Virtual afternoon at the theatre
Residents across our services had a fantastic time enjoying the virtual screening of Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em. Frank Spencer’s comical misadventures had everyone laughing and it was wonderful to see so many happy faces.
Thank you to everyone who joined us and a special thanks to The Barn Theatre in the Cotswolds for bringing this stage adaptation of the beloved sitcom to our screens.

A Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Farewell
Our residents, relatives, friends and staff members all came together for our September themed day, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Dressing up funny always put smiles on our residents faces and adding chocolate to the party only made the smiles bigger. Everyone indulged in lots of chocolate while enjoying a cup of tea, good company and the musical playing on one of our Rainbow Tables. It was also a little farewell party for the lovely lads from JBS who we got to know during the last couple of months. Thank you form making our home beautiful and for treating our residents with love and kindness. You will be missed.
