Activities at Fairview House Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Our Activities Coordinators create a weekly planner that consists of a variety of activities, which caters to all residents' needs as best as possible. The most popular activities are bingo, which we host twice a week, flower arranging and weekly visits from Vinnie our pet therapy dog. Residents also enjoy minibus trips in the nicer weather and we attend a concert every month. We are also involved in the Council Well-being Team, which keeps us up-to date with upcoming events within the community and provides interesting ideas for activities we can try in the home.
Throughout the year, we host various special events, including themed open days and summer and winter fetes that people in our local communities are welcome to join us for. We also have monthly church services with Rev. Ann from Danestone Congregational Church, which is open to loved ones as well.

Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Fairview House Care Home

Grand National
What a joyful Easter Sunday at Waterside Court!! The Easter Bunny was in full swing hiding and delivering chocolate treats, whilst at the same time being naughty as usual. The residents could not contain their joy as everyone got onto the Egg hunting mission.
What made the day even more special was the wonderful turnout from families and friends, who came along to share in the laughter, help with the hunt and create lasting memories together. Joyful days like these are what makes us all feel blessed at Waterside Court.

34 Years Young!
Our home turned 34 in March and we through the biggest party to celebrate our home's special day. The very talented Megan Wight got everyone singing and moving with her great voice and fantastic choice of music.
Good food, great music and the best residents, staff, friends and family – a great combination for an excellent day. Happy birthday to our home, Fairview. Here is to many more lovely years.

Be Happy?
Being happy is important for our emotional and physical health. Happiness can boost our immune system, reduce stress, and lower blood pressure.
Happiness can also improve our relationships, social connection, and contribution to others. Happiness can make us more active and eat better. This is why it is so important to us to make sure our residents are happy.
On International Happiness Day, we asked our residents what makes them happy, and we love their answers.

Gatsby Party!
We had such a fun afternoon with live entertainment from Bobby at our Gatsby-themed party! There was lots of singing, dancing, and great energy all around. The staff who dressed up looked fabulous as always and the residents loved the outfits.
Sheila in particular loved the dresses and said she wore those types of dresses lots of times in her younger years when she and her husband went out for a fun night in town. This was an event for the books and we will definitely be having another Gatsby Party soon.

Wonderful Days Out: Dobbies Garden Centre and Seaton Park
We’ve had some lovely outings this month, and our residents had a fantastic time enjoying the outdoors!
Our first adventure was a mini-bus trip to Dobbie’s Garden Centre. It was a great day! Everyone enjoyed a slice of delicious cake and a warm cup of tea, making it the perfect way to unwind. Afterward, we explored the garden centre, admiring the beautiful plants and displays.
One of the highlights was visiting the fish shop—feeding the fish brought lots of smiles, and watching their playful movements was a real delight. A few days later, we set off on another trip, this time to Seaton Park. Wrapped up warm against the chilly air, our residents enjoyed a peaceful walk surrounded by nature. The fresh air and scenic views made for a refreshing change of pace, and it was lovely to see everyone enjoying the calm and beauty of the outdoors.

A Special Visit at our Dementia Cafe
We had a truly wonderful Dementia Café this month! A huge thank you to Arlene, NHS dedicated Dementia Specialist Nurse, and Lisa, one of our Care Home Assurance Nurses, for taking the time to visit and engage with our residents and relatives on Wednesday, 5th February 2025.
Their presence turned the event into a meaningful opportunity for families to connect, share their experiences, and ask important questions in a supportive environment. From insightful conversations to helpful advice, their guidance made a real difference for those navigating the challenges of dementia.
Our Dementia Café isn’t just about information—it’s about community, understanding, and support. Whether you’re seeking advice or simply a friendly chat, everyone is welcome. Join us every first Wednesday of the month—because no one should have to walk this journey alone.
