Activities at Fairview House Care Home

Our Activities Coordinators create a weekly planner that consists of a variety of activities, which caters to all residents' needs as best as possible. The most popular activities are bingo, which we host twice a week, flower arranging and weekly visits from Vinnie our pet therapy dog. Residents also enjoy minibus trips in the nicer weather and we attend a concert every month. We are also involved in the Council Well-being Team, which keeps us up-to date with upcoming events within the community and provides interesting ideas for activities we can try in the home.

Throughout the year, we host various special events, including themed open days and summer and winter fetes that people in our local communities are welcome to join us for. We also have monthly church services with Rev. Ann from Danestone Congregational Church, which is open to loved ones as well.

Visit from Frankie & Pepsi

This morning we had an exciting visit from Frankie and Pepsi who are two lovely miniature daschunds. They went around all the lounges and in residents rooms for some cuddles!

All of our residents absolutely loved their visit and were very happy to see them. We will be bringing Frankie and Pepsi back to the home again at some point as requested by all the residents!

Decorating Memory Lane Garden

Today our garden club in Memory Lane got together to start painting the benches outside.

Everyone loved joining together and working as a team to start adding more colour to the garden. We are already so proud of the work we have done and can't wait to continue adding more to the garden area.

After our hard work we sat back and relaxed to enjoy the sunshine and each other’s company!

Fun in the Sun

This morning we got lots of our residents outside to soak up the sunshine with some ice cream / lollies. We also brought our speaker outside and did some music and movement, everyone was so happy and enjoying one another's company.

Enjoying Pride month

This June, staff and residents at Fairview House care home in Aberdeen, have been creating decorations, festooning their home with rainbows and enjoying the colourful celebrations from around the world.  Lots of the festivities from different parts of the UK and from around the world are available to watch online and residents have had a fantastic time experiencing the different parades and carnivals on offer.

Healthy Eating Week

Staff and residents at Barchester’s Fairview House care home in Aberdeen have been celebrating Health Eating Week by taking part in a range of different activities to promote eating well.  Healthy Eating Week is an annual event run by the British Nutrition Foundation to highlight the importance of healthy, active lifestyles and invite everyone to ‘find your healthier you!’

The staff and residents got into the spirit of the week by setting up a hydration station to go around all of our resident’s rooms and lounge areas to ensure that we were all keeping hydrated. We also came together to make our own fruit salads and learn about the importance of getting your 5-a-day into your diet. Throughout the week we also conducted our balloon volleyball and music and movement classes to ensure everyone was getting some exercise every day.

RAF Hendon

Across our services we had a lovely time joining Rhiannon Watkinson from the RAF Museum London for an interactive talk exploring the exciting and innovative aviation history of Hendon.

Our residents were able to learn about the first flights from the fields at Hendon, the creation of the London Aerodrome and Battle of Britain pilots who flew from RAF Hendon.

The talk also included photographic and film material from the Museum’s archive. Residents across our homes had a fantastic time and we truly enjoyed the virtual experience.
