Fairview House Care Home in Aberdeen

Fairview House is conveniently located close to plenty of local amenities and is within each reach of the beautiful Dee and Don countryside. Our purpose-built home provides 24-hour nursing care for older people, including those living with dementia. Our highly skilled and compassionate staff work hard to ensure Fairview House is not an establishment, but a home, with high quality care centred around the specific needs of each resident.

Dementia Care

The home's specialist Memory Lane Community utilises a careful blend of skills and techniques developed by leading experts in the field of dementia care, incorporating person-centred design in its use of colour and cues to help individuals navigate through the home, whilst thoughtful interior design features, such us adapted crockery and tableware assists with reminiscence. Communities are broken up into separate units with a family feel so people can feel safe and comfortable. Care is focused on independence, dignity and choice, with a person-centred approach. Staffing levels reflect the needs of residents, and people living with dementia are offered a range of activities to help preserve life skills, support interactions and retain a sense of purpose and selfhood.

Our high standards are reflected in all aspects of the home, including our hospitality and cooking. The home also has a wonderful and varied activities programme, centred around the needs and interests of residents. We provide concerts and church services every month and have daily programmes of activities, such as bingo, crafts, a beauty group and gardening. We also frequently go to coffee mornings in our local community and have regular outings in our minibus.

We believe the best way to judge a home is to visit and see how care and support is provided. So please feel free to drop in or give us a call.

Hi, my name is Karren and I am the General Manager here at Fairview House. Welcome to our website!

Thank you for taking the time to look further into what we have to offer to you or your loved one. Here is an opportunity to look at some of our staff team in the home, who all play a vital role in day-to-day life. I joined the home in September 2022.    I qualified as a registered Mental Health Nurse in 1986 having completed training at the Highland College of Nursing and Midwifery. Since qualifying I have worked in various positions across the NHS and private sector, working as a Staff Nurse, Deputy Ward Manager, Care Home Manager, Registration & Inspection Officer, Operations Manager, and Director of Care.

I bring a wealth of experience to my role as General Manager here at Fairview House. I have a passion for leading and supporting a team who take pride in their work to support the residents to achieve their full potential and ensuring the highest of standards of care is delivered. My focus is providing a person centred approach and making that everyone working in the home, living in the home and visiting the home have a positive experience.   When not working I enjoy travel, and spending time with family and friends and I look forward to welcoming you to our home.
