Activities at Fairview House Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Our Activities Coordinators create a weekly planner that consists of a variety of activities, which caters to all residents' needs as best as possible. The most popular activities are bingo, which we host twice a week, flower arranging and weekly visits from Vinnie our pet therapy dog. Residents also enjoy minibus trips in the nicer weather and we attend a concert every month. We are also involved in the Council Well-being Team, which keeps us up-to date with upcoming events within the community and provides interesting ideas for activities we can try in the home.
Throughout the year, we host various special events, including themed open days and summer and winter fetes that people in our local communities are welcome to join us for. We also have monthly church services with Rev. Ann from Danestone Congregational Church, which is open to loved ones as well.

Garden Centre Delights
"All aboard!"
It was all aboard the mini bus as our residents and activities team headed out for an afternoon visit to Dobbies garden centre.
Our residents enjoyed choosing from a selection of delicious cakes on offer from within the restaurant, all washed down with a refreshing cup of tea.
Following on from our sweet treats we then enjoyed walking around the outside of the garden centre, looking at the wonderful array of flowers.
Our residents enjoyed discussing the different types of flowers and being able to enjoy their scents.
We had a wonderful afternoon and we look forward to visiting again very soon.

Huge congratulations from all the team at Fairview House!

High Tea & Hymns
Our home hosted a delightful High Tea event featuring cream tea and delicious snacks prepared by the home's activities team. The event was a resounding success, with residents, staff, and members of the local community coming together to enjoy an afternoon of decadence.
We were also delighted to welcome back Martin and members of the congregation from the Kings Church in Aberdeen who led the audience in a resounding chorus of hymns.
The cream tea was a particular highlight, with guests complimenting the quality of the scones and cream and rounded off a memorable afternoon.

Future Financial Planning Seminar
We were delighted to welcome members of the local community to a seminar discussing the worries of paying for care and future planning.
Guests from the local community had the opportunity to meet Fiona and Craig from local solicitors Ledingham Chalmers, who discussed how to plan for care. Topics included what it means to have a Power of Attorney, and how to manage care fees.
Operations Manager Mark Hurst said: “We’re really grateful to Fiona and Craig for coming in to help ease the concerns of those worried about the financial aspect of care. It can be a daunting process, but the finance experts are completely impartial when offering their advice, and for us within the home we are always available to provide support and advice about care to anyone who needs it."

Charity Cook Off
Staff and residents are celebrating because their wonderful Managing Director, Fiona Fagan, from Barchester’s North East and Scotland Division, has stepped completely out of her comfort zone to compete in the Barchester Charitable Foundation Cook Off 2024.
Fiona went head-to-head with the Managing Directors from Barchester’s four other divisions and cooked up a storm to raise a phenomenal £24,595 for Barchester’s Charitable Foundation which helps connect vulnerable people and those living with a disability to community groups in their local area by providing grants to improve mobility and quality of life. Each year the Foundation distributes thousands of pounds to individuals, small community groups and charities across England, Scotland and Wales.

Eden Project
Residents across our homes had a fantastic time exploring the Eden Project virtually - an educational charity and visitor attraction based in Cornwall, featuring sprawling outdoor gardens and breathtaking biomes that house the largest indoor rainforest in the world.
During the session, residents who joined were reconnected with nature through their senses, memories and stories. A big thank you to the community team at the Eden Project for the wonderful event.
