Activities at Fairview House Care Home

Our Activities Coordinators create a weekly planner that consists of a variety of activities, which caters to all residents' needs as best as possible. The most popular activities are bingo, which we host twice a week, flower arranging and weekly visits from Vinnie our pet therapy dog. Residents also enjoy minibus trips in the nicer weather and we attend a concert every month. We are also involved in the Council Well-being Team, which keeps us up-to date with upcoming events within the community and provides interesting ideas for activities we can try in the home.

Throughout the year, we host various special events, including themed open days and summer and winter fetes that people in our local communities are welcome to join us for. We also have monthly church services with Rev. Ann from Danestone Congregational Church, which is open to loved ones as well.

Fiona Mackie

Fiona has been the activities lead at Fairview House since 2021 and is at the forefront for our homes life enrichment.

She speaks about how much she enjoys engaging with the senior generation, learning from their life experience and wishing to pass this on, from this she says "a different day is a different story"

Away from the home, Fiona has a passion for cooking and baking with being a former chef and a love for crafts which she has translated both of these into the homes activities program.

FIona loves to spend time with her family and her two grandchildren.

Life at Fairview House Care Home

Virtual event with the Wallace Collection

We had a lovely time joining Holly and Marie-Therese from the Wallace Collection, for a virtual introduction to the Collection, followed by a sensory exploratory walk through one of the museum’s most famous landscape paintings.

The Collection ranges from Old Master paintings to 18th century French furniture, arms and armour.

We all had a wonderful time and cannot wait to put our creative skills to a test and paint some landscapes in the upcoming days.

Flower Power Party

We had a fun filled day of partying and dancing. The snow may be falling but that hasn't stopped us! We are back at it bringing themed parties all around. Today we had a flower power party, where we danced to 70s party music, creatively dressed up, played bowling and enjoyed some delicious milkshakes, we brought back the sunshine with all our laughs.

It was a great day, enjoyed by all!

Vincent Van Gogh Birthday

Vincent was a Dutch Post-Impressionist painter who posthumously became one of the most famous and influential figures in Western art history.

To mark what would have been his birthday, we took a virtual visit to the Van Gogh Museum to explore his paintings, letters written by him and his biography.

Our residents got involved in a themed afternoon tea where Van Gogh Games were had alongside a fun filled quiz by Oomph.

,

Doughnut Cart

The activities team provided some extra yummy treats for our residents and created their very own Donut Cart!

After all who doesn't love donuts?

With our trolley set up and napkins ready we went round every room ensuring every one got a wonderful donut and for those who didn't like a donut we had some fabulous milkshakes instead!
