Emily Jackson Care Home in Sevenoaks
Emily Jackson House is conveniently situated near the centre of Sevenoaks, Kent, within a 10-minute walk of the main line railway station. It is also 20 minutes from the centre of London and has good access to the M25 and Gatwick Airport. Our home provides high quality 24-hour nursing and residential care for elderly people, and for people living with dementia.
Dementia Care
Emily Jackson House also has a dedicated Memory Lane Community that provides a safe, homely environment for people living with dementia, which has been designed following these guidelines ensuring the care we provide supports residents’ freedom of choice. We aim to maintain their life-skills, improving their self-esteem and helping them to maintain and develop their independence while they are living with us.
Staff undertake specialist dementia care training developed by our team of Dementia Care Specialists and academic partners, the Centre for Dementia Research at Leeds Beckett University. Together they ensure our training programmes are informed by the very latest thinking. We ensure that the people we support feel comfortable and safe in their surrounding environment, helping ensure they live life with dementia to the full.
Choosing a care home for a loved one or friend who may be experiencing dementia can be difficult and we have created a guide to showcase how we ‘Enrich the lives of people living with dementia’ in our care home.
Our team of highly qualified and attentive staff focus on the individual needs, likes and dislikes of residents, with a person-centred care plan for everyone. As we come to learn about a resident’s past, we can then formulate a care plan to support them going forward. Our staff work to provide the best possible care and ensure that every individual is supported to achieve their goals.
The home is set in landscaped gardens with outdoor seating for residents and their families to enjoy. A major refurbishment in 2015 introduced a bright new reception area, perfect for socialising or taking part in one of our many daily activities; our beautiful dining room is a wonderful place to enjoy a three-course, homemade lunch and our brand-new bedrooms are comfortable and tastefully decorated.
We welcome visitors at any time and are happy to offer helpful advice if we can, so please feel free to call us or to drop in.

Types of care
Emily Jackson House provides care for those looking for long and short stays, and we are able to meet changing needs as they arise, providing peace, joy, confidence and a homely atmosphere to those we support. We take care of people living with dementia, in addition to people with nursing requirements. We promote independence and encourage residents to maintain it for as long as possible, and take a holistic approach to care, therefore the people we care for will have access to a chiropodist, physiotherapist, dietician, as well as church ministers and different social activities.

Our Team
The dedicated and experienced team are passionate about providing quality care to each individual living at the home.

Robert Dura-May
Hi, my name is Robert, and I am the General Manager here at Emily Jackson House.
I joined Barchester Healthcare as I was looking to use my life skills to enhance both the life of residents and team members. I liked the values and description of Barchester as a care provider.
I really enjoy the daily challenges, team recruitment and always pushing and exceeding performance where I can. I also enjoy adding value, enhancing care and giving elder life purpose to enable residents to engage in a fulfilled life.
I am passionate about delivering the levels and standards of care that I would expect for my own parents, who are sadly no longer with us. If I had known about Barchester when my own parents required care, my family would have not experienced such pain and anxiety, this is why I chose Barchester to ensure that other families do not, where possible, have to endure what I have experienced in the past.
I have over 20 years’ experience in the NHS, Private and Public business and have worked in the care sector with children, young adults, adults with acquired brain injury and the last 10 years in Elderly Care.
I have recently studied with Open University to ensure decisions made at the home reflect best practice in providing a safe community.
Making a difference to people's lives throughout my career has been my biggest achievement. I strive to continually develop which ensures that the individuals I care for experience the very best care and life enrichment in later life.
Every day is an achievement, delivering and pushing the levels of care to exceed the expectations of Barchester and myself.
